Actually, all he needed was someone to confirm that he could make it despite being a quirkless(talentless) nobody which is why he begins to train(practice) to become a hero. The quirk is an afterthought that he gets later, but he could have made it despite the quirk because his idol already told him he could do it. A lot of people like to focus on him getting a broken quirk, but it's sort of like people bashing on Naruto's nine tails. Both of the powers are nothing by itself, but the two characters worked hard to be able to use them.

You shouldn't judge an artist by their process, but rather the final result. It doesn't detract from his work at all if he heavily relies on photographic references.

>> No.3141714

>>3141619
That's a very simple minded and beginner way of viewing art. An artist should be judged by the work they put out not whether or not everything was done from imagination. Ross uses a very classical process to produce his stuff and that's why it looks so unique. All of the greats used references or models to aid in doing their finished pieces and a lot of them even outright traced. Norman Rockwell is a well known name that comes to mind. Those who only draw from imagination are very very rare. Even someone like KGJ who is the definitive artist who draws from imagination wakes up every morning and stares at different references for 30 minutes. You will be severely limiting yourself if you think that drawing from imagination is the only way to truly draw.

>You shouldn't judge an artist by their process
>It doesn't detract from his work at all
absolutely it does. by your thinking then someone that traces an image is as good as someone that references it, and that person is also as good as the one that does it from imagination. It doesn't make sense.

>beginner way of viewing art
Did I ever say it was bad for what it was? absolutely not, it's actually a lot fucking better than Tim bradstreet's stuff which is in a similar lane in what it tries to do, just that it's contrary to comic art and methods, and in the end wether you like it or not, it is just glorified and simple portrait painting from reference, which makes it lose a lot of its comic book charm.

>and a lot of them even outright traced.
jesus not this shit again. Listen, Rockwell traced, so let's say he can't draw his compositions directly. An artist comes up that can paint as well as Rockwell, but drew his own stuff, would he be considered as good or better than him? Does craftsmanship not matter anymore? All of a sudden the process doesn't matter, what the fuck is this? does it mean my printer is as good as michelangelo to you?

get down from that high horse of yours, don't presume what you don't know, and don't project your opinions on others.

>> No.3141833

>>3141812
Rockwell's paintings look great and you have to look at the reference to understand its role in the final composition. Ross's drawings look stiff and heavily referenced, which gives away the process without even having to see proof of it.
