The most basic skill you need to draw correctly is to be able to accurately observe life. The 2nd most basic is to be able to recreate it. Understanding how everything works is a more vast and vacuous realm of knowledge than a skill, and you expand it by observing, studying, and recreating life. Once you have a solid understanding you can apply what you learned on your own imagined pieces.

If you really want to draw from imagination you should learn construction, but you still probably want to know how things can be constructed

I will keep repeating myself until I die.

I only drew from imagination for like 3 years in the beginning. My work sucked ass. By the 4th I started art school and life drawing. I began to see improvement. Now I always have some sort of reference for inspiration or to draw from whenever I'm sketching/painting. I even went as far as rendering materials in 3d and screencapping them to get accurate lighting conditions. My work has improved drastically. And while I am an avid reference user, i still typically draw from imagination, but with a greater visual library.

I wasted a lot of time in the beginning. Don't do that.

I don't have any good work yet, I'm a beginner, only drawing animals, landscape and some drafts. (I'll put a landscape as example, I draw very poorly yet.)
I'm a catholic guy and I wanna dedicate my time and effort to draw christians things.
The question is always I search by christian tags in devianart or artstation only have blasphemy, people putting Christ or Holy Mary in erotic situations and things like that, except for rare exceptions.

Its kind hard for everybody to be a dedicated illustrator nowadays, but since you have a pretty unique niche in mind it may be easier for you

Focus on your craft first, you don't need to reach /ic/s unreachable level of perfection ( don't take /ic/ seriously ) but you need to have some consistency in your work, draw everyday then create a fb/twitter/insta/tumbrl and there post about yourself and your work, grinding your way into something

Its not easy and takes time, but its the only way
