What kind of test do they make in art school to accept you?

Belief. Especially in aesthetic relativism

>> No.3094738

Depends on the school
I took one short course, had to show portfolio, do an interview, and a test

Some of the shit I've been asked to do was
>draw something with a circle, triangle and square
>write a story short with these words
>draw a 4 panel comic about this sentence

They wanted to see how creative you can get, some of the questions were very vauge on purpose.

>> No.3094747

My college it was a portfolio review and general grade/SATs.

For my sister, who went to RISD, had a portfolio review, some sort of drawing assignment and a writing sample in addition to general grades

>> No.3094759

For an animation course, they check your portfolio, interview you and finally give you a questionnaire to fill out. The final page had us choose which scenario to draw. e.g. "Draw a cow escaping from the cops."

But in the end if you got enough money, they'll take you in.

what's with the double standard? if you just need money to be accepted why do they require a portfolio? why are there numerous examples of people being rejected?

>> No.3094947

>>3094943
Depends on the school. The standards are quite low so long as you have the money though. They give scholarships and discounts if you're good (in reality just overcharging the retarded shitters spending their parents' money), but other than that if you can hold a pencil art center is not going to turn down $60k a year.

what are you looking for faggot? a school run by socrates that accepts only those who follow the truest most stoic path of art?

that doesn't sound so bad, actually. anything even aiming in that direction would be cool.

Well, we're already browsing the closest thing.

Just a pipe dream in modern times. Even if such a school were to exist, it'd be relegated to some hole in the wall location and 99.9% of the world will never hear about it. No money, no advertising, no materials/instructors, no students.

At best it'd be like that manga where the girl gits gud and moves on like her sensei isn't a person. While giant mega-institutes drown in money and keep churning out factory artists, ol' socrates will die alone and his school will eventually be forgotten. A place like this probably exists right now.

A illustration school I applied to a couple of years ago wanted:
3 posters of a certain theme
you to create your own fictional organisation and including graphical identity
a illustration of a certain topic
a illustration of a memory
a portfolio with other art you've made
a written statement of why you wanted to go there

I didn't get in ;_;

Konstfack - Sweden. It's not even that high a standard on the students. But some of the more /gd/ stuff I submitted where really fucking amateurish (since I was a complete noob at the stuff at the time)
Also there's free education here. So they couldn't care less how much money your parents have.

>inb4 libshit school
I'm fully aware. But I am a libshitter, so I couldn't care less.
