I don't think there's a lecturer out of view. There's a lot of symbolism in how it is set up. The corpse is shorter because the book is in focus. What they did was high taboo and could had gotten them killed in bad ways.

the common advice is that the bigger the better, but it comes down to personal taste in the end. some people paint huge images with a tiny brush and it looks good. adrian smith is an example of this. other people like bouguereau blended all the brushstrokes anyways so it doesn't matter what size he used.
