I want to make all the assets for my own video game one day.

Id say before somebody looks to "make it" they should really ask themselves if they enjoy the process of drawing, painting, etc. I spent 5 years learning to draw only to realize the only thing I like about it is the finished product. I actually hated the process and found it tedious. I tried a whole bunch of creative outlets for a couple years and found sculpting to be the thing I really enjoyed, so where as some of my art knowledge helps I could have really used several of those years to learn sculpting.

So like I said, before gitting gud at one thing make sure you actually like it. I think enjoying the process is more important than getting something nice out of it.
