There are 4 levels.

You're shit so people just make fun of you and you occasionally get a good crit.

you're not shit but you're not good either. You'll get ignored 99% of the time and maybe you'll get a vague crit every now and then. Sometimes you'll do something above your level and people will praise you sometimes you'll do something below and people will treat you like a level 1.
>Level 3
Your work is appealing. People will heap praise upon you, ask you for your blog and people will crit you without being mean.

Your work is very good. People get super jelly and nitpick, call you shit, a one trick pony, tell you to stop attention whoring, etc. Basically there's a shitstorm every time you post so you have to end up leaving /ic/.

Your goal should be to work your way up the levels and ultimately escape this toxic hell hole. I'm only on level 2 atm.

The most common mistake on /ic/ is lack of utilising perspective. Apply it to everything you make and make work that is placed in a scene instead of just a portrait or an aimless figure.

Yeah I might be a level 2 I don't know. I like any kind of spot-based criticism like "drill feet" or something like "those knees are weak" because its helps you address the problem. I hate being asked point blank for a blog above all... it's easy to envision some cur behind a keyboard being ironic about it. Since my nephews got me back into drawing it's largely just a form of recess or mental organization for me, or a form of automatic writing.

Vetyr, probably the most polarizing on /ic/. Her work is between a strong 3 and a debatable 4. She renders a lot of very colorful/shiny stuff so it's very pleasing to the eye, and people sensitive to colorful things tend to hype her up a bit too much, while other completely undeservedly trash her Imo. She still has room to grow. Stopped posting but still lurks i think.

4xis. or shiny metal guy. gets a lot of shit because his style is semi realistic and line art only, when he could go full realistic. I think in all of his posts he rendered only 2 portraits so he should work on that. All of his faces and anatomy works are from imagination, and he's probably the best at it on /ic/. stopped posting too.

The guy that did the woman on the beach, flying thing in the sky, and giant sheep thing. forgot his name. His rendering is top notch. he's probably the best at it on /ic/ too. gets a lot of shitposts sometimes, but i think he still posts.

Merc_wip guy, this guy got btfo off the board because of the meme, even though he was one of the best on /ic/. Admittedly, that piece was laughably generic, he did a lot of better things, and most people here probably still don't know about it.

The guy that used to put triangles/lines everywhere in his grayscale stuff. god i loved his style. His tumblr was a shitpost in and out of itself though.
