So about the Famous Artist's Course, James Gurney suggests and I quote 'Get the sets from the mid-50s; the quality of instruction suffers later'. The scanned one that's passed around is from 1960.

Are these the same, or is there an even earlier version that's even better than the scan?

I have a (physical-only) copy of this book and it's actually a very good design book.

It is PURELY a design book in the interest of assisting someone who likes to draw, has fundamentals down, can draw from life, but lacks ideas for drawing from imagination.
