Inconsistent horizon.

The lines of the building on the left (marked in green) and the building on the right (marked in red) should both be parallel with the ground plane.
If they're both parallel with the ground plane then the vanishing points* should be on the same horizontal horizon line, they are clearly not.

*I used the plural, points to be generous. The composition of the piece would suggest that both buildings are also parallel to each other and not just to the ground plane, which means that the lines should converge at the very same vanishing point if that were the case, not just the same horizon (which the artist couldn't even manage)

This mistake usually happens when forms are built using separate perspective set-ups. It's honestly quite strange that after drawing the horizon and vanishing points for one building, the artist would re-do a new horizon and set of vanishing points for the next building that should use the same horizon even if it was angled differently from the first.
I think what happened was they made one building, deleted their horizon and vanishing points, decided they wanted another building later on but were too lazy to make sure its perspective matched properly with the rest of the scene and just haphazardly plopped it in.

But something even stranger is the top lines of the left-side building (marked in blue) not matching the rest of the lines of that building when they should be parallel.
Seriously I can't explain this one. I just don't know.

>> No.2917914

>>2917911
retard, the horizon is the eye level of the character at the gate standing. You can find it simply by taking to locations and converging at a guesstimation. Stop being stupid for just a second. His perspective, while not super accurate (doesn't have to be) isn't wrong.

>> No.2917917

Thank you for completely missing the point.
Every line that runs parallel with the ground plane, regardless of its angle, should converge to the same horizon line as every other line that's parallel to the ground plane.

I'll say though what makes it off to the eye are the figures in the foreground. They aren't in proper scale and to make it convincing he needed to go bigger on the house on the left. That is probably why when you draw the lines it looks like he's compensating to fit everything in the picture for the sake of fitting things in the picture. This is the issue here.

I love when artists try to get technical. Bro, I hate to break it to you, but you make art not geometry. No one gives a shit if your perspective is off. In fact, that is something that is encouraged in art because... it's art, fiction, fantasy. You know... not real. You don't parallel lines. You don't need to be precise. No one dies if you fuck up on your perspective. You have confused thinking when you expect for something that is fictional to be lifelike.
