Trying to learn human anatomy and I don't know shit. Any suggestions or tips?

real life reference, preferably things in front of you and not pictures
look at a body
never let your pencil off the paper when you do it
don't construct the body with shapes
let the line form the body

i mean look at the negative space when you draw the body
think of it as if you're drawing a big shape, not building a robot
both techniques are good, but it's all better for you if you do both

Learn to draw in 3D before you try something as complicated as anatomy.

I've learned and practised 3D for year, though I'm probably a bit rusty

Start with learning to draw the head. The head in your image looks like shit.

You tryna learn anatomy without being able to draw a straight line is like a beginning pianists picking Tschajkovski.
Drawabox, Peter Han, learn to draw form before applying it.

As a beginner myself, I was recommended to use DesignDoll. It is a posing tool that helps you visualize poses in 3d space. It is important not to trace the pose, recreate it as a reference. Tracing teaches you nothing and the tool isn't detailed enough to give you accurate muscle definition.

Learn anatomy at a bone level, then at a muscle level, then at a skin level. Start by drawing skeles in different poses.

Find references and draw them.

You don't have to draw from life, photos work just as fine "you have to draw real people who are in front of you" is shit that's being pushed by art schools so that they can charge students $10k every year.

you dont know too much about it, do you.

>> No.2912483

first thing you should learn are proportions
do gesture drawings often, they not only give life to your drawings, but hammer in proportions simply by drawing people all the time
what you are trying to do in your picture is using forms, but you don't have a good grasp of perspective yet, read up on the basics before trying to tackle advanced topics like anatomy
