I'm the same way orz. You have to learn to love your ideas and understand that to get better at art you have to go through a lot of shitty drawings. Please keep going anon. Draw whatever you like and when you're finished don't be so negative. Learn from your mistakes and study hard and you'll get where you want to be eventually

Get wrecked OP. That's what you get for not drawing cute anime girls.

Having no shame is a positive trait for an artist. ;)

Hurts a ton, I used to think that everything i made was not good enough. I still think so some times. But you gotta learn to value time and think when you draw. If you wanna git gud, most of the times delivering stroke after stroke isn't enough. You gotta learn to process what you wanna do, HOW you want it to look.
Get yourself some art friends and if you get some/already have some give each other feedback and ask for opinions. In anything art related you may feel a bit jealous of others,,, but that's not always bad. You can try to use that jealous energy and turn it into something that'll fuel you up and inspire and motivate you to become more competent.

Winter. Lot of people feel shitty during winter months in particular. Artist spending a lot of time sitting in one spot plus winter conditions equal SADcunts everywhere. (see what I did there?)

Get some quality regular exercise (make time for it), and get your circadian game in order. There are a plethora of studies to choose from on the subject, so look it up if your skeptical.

Don't try and convince me you're already doing it; I don't believe you. Run, lift weights, shag your pillow extra-hard, whatever.

try to draw like the artists you like draw. It's literally that simple and everything else in between is pretty much common sense.

If it makes you feel any better, 90% of all artists hate their work after a while and the other 10% are dirty rotten liars.

Pretty much this.

It's not a bad thing, it means that you can see your mistakes.

Last time I thought I was good at drawing was when I was around 12 and just getting started.

At 14 I realized that everything I've done up until that point is fucking terrible and that likewise my current drawings are, just that I can't see it because, well, I don't know any better. If I knew better, I'd draw better.

Nowadays I sort of maybe find some of my paintings okay-ish, but not for longer than few days. And that's fine. No way to go but forward. Just keep drawing.

The alternative is that you think everything you make is a gift from God and a masterpiece.

You got the better deal, OP. Because at least now you can improve.

Bet you read "drawing of the right side of the brain" cover to cover.

I mean, sometimes you suck. Sometimes we all suck, and we def all sucked at some point. I draw all the time, sell a painting every now and then, but I still suck. You just gotta accept that you'll never be good. And def never be good enough. It's no big, anons. Just art because you want to, not to be good.

And other gay shit.

try another medium assclown. If you draw, try painting, if you paint, try sculpting, if you sculpt try woodwork, etc. I don't mean progress that way but i mean there's an alternative medium you probably haven't tried out there yet. Get creative. Maybe your work just needs a different medium for your skills to shine. Maybe you need to make portraits out of gum to enjoy what you're making, you get it?

I find getting out of funk is helpful when i try a new medium. You're basically playing with it so anything bad you make can be chocked up to lack of practice with the new medium and anything good can get you excited about making more, maybe getting better at that medium, combining the medium with your current medium, etc.

Give it a shot dude what have you got to lose?

If you're short on cash even kid's mediums are fine if you're just playing around and trying to see what you like. If you end up liking painting, invest in better paints later on. If you end up liking drawing, get yourself some nice graphite or charcoal to play with, etc.
