that's a really bad guide. to understand WHY the butt generally looks different between men and women, you need to study the pelvis (the skeletal pelvis), how its shape tends to very between men and women, and how that affects what you see on the surface of the figure. simply breaking down what a butt looks like in 2 dimensional shapes that only represent the surface rather than the underlying skeletal anatomy doesn't teach you much of anything

If you want to learn how to draw something, first make sure you have a solid base knowledge of the fundamentals and just study it.

Good tutorials on specific subjects can certainly help, though. If one takes your argument to it's logical extreme we shouldn't study anatomy books but instead conduct our own dissections. You're right that everyone needs to develop the skills necessary to analyze and study any subject but (good) books and tutorials help developing that skill if anything.
