You can go to nearly any board outside of /ic/ and you'll see shitty art being praised left and right. I once went to check out a /k/ drawthread because I was drawing planes at the time and so were people in the thread. 90% of the pictures had no understanding of perspective or proportion and were just poor attempts of copying photos. Some of the artists even admitted to tracing their pictures, showing some semblance of guilt, but the other posters told them there's nothing wrong with tracing and that artists do it all the time.
It looked like everyone was having a good time, so I left silently and never looked back.

I disagree, I thought the storytelling was great. It's subtle - doesn't spoon-feed us. You just have to pay closer attention to images in a comic with no dialogue. Their expressions give us more than enough info to figure out what's going on though.

Also, p1 is done without preliminary sketch, p2 has a rough pass. Is the style good enough for direct inking, or is it too messy?

Well drawn, as usual, however the panels do not flow smoothly at all. Make sure youre panelling with intent to lead the eye and not just trasitioning between panels for the sake of transitioning. I feel like the pacing is good but something is off, maybe the body language? For instance in the last three of page two, i had to look at it for a second before understanding what had happened. The formula used there of Rest>Action>Rest wasnt very effective and wouldve worked better as Rest>Rest>Action>Rest or even Action>Action>Rest

my 2 cents

I like how it looks with the background scenery, but I feel that the panels that don't have a background it feels like their rather empty. I feel even a couple of texture lines would do you better justice to compliment the landscape panels that have so much work in them

Well drawn, but you might want to get some reference materials on weapons for use in the future.

There's absolutely no way 2/3 of those arrows would have any power or fly straight (especially with those angles), they should be far closer together (almost parallel to each other), but you made the arrowheads far too big to do that. Plus the form is completely wrong, in both the character's shooting stance (which would have no draw power) and the way he's positioned his arrows; traditionally you place arrows on the "outside" over the knuckle, especially when you're aiming the bow sideways like the character (the arrows aren't resting on the bow, so maintaining a steady arrow to shoot in a straight line is far, far harder). It's a common movie misconception to shoot arrows from the "inside" of the bow, even modern Olympic bows are designed to shoot from the outside.

Just because of the contest. They don't take submissions, as far as I know.

I'm a bit torn on the site, in one hand it's great content but I don't know if western audiences are ready to pay for webcomics, you know?

Ah, sorry anon, yes, you can send them submissions. You have to give them 4 full chapters and a synopsis of your series.

each chapter must have 70+ panels. Or at least, that's the lenght they ask for in the contests.

According to what they do in manga, the BG isn't needed in every single panel.

How to properly set up a page? Which size? Do I resize it when I´m done? I dont want shit to become a pixelated mess because my document was too small/big.

Start big and scale the end result down. You lose some detail on the final piece, but it also helps to hide some of the minor mistakes. Whatever you do, don't start small and scale it up.

Dudes i had an idea for a ww3 comic. and since i struggle with faces, if i get bodies down, maybe the people being faceless could be a theme?

Or, you could study faces. Using your lack of knowledge like that will become obvious pretty quickly it wont look like a choice it will look like youre terrible.
