Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make your mom proud.

AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:

#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (also images shouldn't come out accidentally sideways with this method)

#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller

#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new sticky in town! You can see it at:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1VfDTpLLVl5bWUGWguswKpPFml533luI8-NBd1EGYHnA/edit

>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

Not sure if I'm good enough to be giving advice but hey, I wanted to practice faces anyway. Hopefully you get something out of it.
First, turn the reference / canvas if you need to, there is no point in drawing with a reference if you are not using it. The angle of the face is different, probably because of that.
Watch out for the size and position of the ear. The side of the head is too long.
The lips should be way bigger and closer to the nose.
Draw the beard and make the hair longer, shorter eyebrows
Pay attention to the gesture.

Go ahead and finish it. Any suggestion I have is that the hands are a bit too big. Especially her right hand and her large index finger. Also, her right brest is the same shade of grey as the grass. That's a shading problem in which the each layer of the picture should have a different darkness/lightness. Like how your deer is dark. Make the trees in the background dark too and some of the grass and I think that'll help it out.

How so?
You have all you need in the reference. You are supposed to do axis from points you can get a grid drawing/reference points/etc and mesure the height and weight with your pen(cil) and/or fingers. Using techniques like the one posted before work well in non-referenced work but from life just seem like a shitty and imprecise way to copy that would only get on the way and be overkill if you added it as a plus to the mentioned techniques.

That would obviously be the ideal, but like the other anon said, I don't really notice the mistakes until I start fleshing out the details.

Anyway I got a bit further with this one - I can't make the freckles look nice though.

>>2611814
I dunno what I'm talking about so take with the obligatory bucket of salt, but for gesture drawing it feels like you're trying to cram too many different details and lines in without connecting them to the overall form - they lack coherence and fluidity. Maybe you could try focusing more on a central line of movement, and building the form around that. There's some nice stuff in there though, I like the three in the top right!

Senpai my first few entire sketchbooks were bad.
Some people just don't start good, my off days still outnumber my good ones, but it's like weight lifting. Each hour you do is another chip off the wall of the hundreds/thousands it might take. If you really want to get good at drawing, if you really like drawing, you'll keep going.

I remember that exercise from Right Side Of The Brain. Not a bad book, I went through it when I started too. I suggest not following it with Loomis however, had much more luck with other books, but don't worry 'bout that yet.

forms are fairly weak, you don't seem to know how to simplify the figure.

lines aren't very good either, also your figure is pretty stiff

Instead of drawing things the way they actually look, you're drawing what your faulty memory thinks a drawing of that thing is supposed to look like. Start off by learning how to see, and draw from reference to learn how to draw real people, then you can start simplifying that.

you're attempting to draw a stylized person, but you don't have a grasp on the fundamentals. this is why >>2613223 is a futile effort, in order to 'fix' your drawing, he would have to draw a completely new figure all-together, and it probably wouldn't be in-line with what you wanted to do in the first place.

it's fine if you want to do these drawing for fun while studying your fundamentals, but understand that there will be no 'fixing' or redlines that will help until you improve to a level where your figures have a good base that we can work from.

A little reminder since you are tackling those. These exercises are not meant to be one and done, even after he sees and approves of them. You are still gonna be doing these everyday as part of your warm up routine. Noone masters lines and ellipses that easily. Luckily you don;t have to do all of the exercises, just a few lines and ellipses before starting the new lessons.

it's surprisingly easy actually, you start with your lowest opacity colors/midtones and work more opaque until you reach a near-acrylics layer. You can rewet and blend easy. You can rewet and pick up paint with a towel. And if you need extreme, precise darks or lights, you can use black and white charcoal once it dries, since it dries matte and doesn't impasto much at all.

not the way you're doing it desu. airbrush is awful for rendering. best way is to lay down different colors with a 100% opacity brush and render it with eyedrop tool to pick in between colous. i recommend watching speedpaint videos on youtube to get an idea of how this is done.
you also seem to not be noticing different colors in your reference, try eydropping colours from the pic and compare it to the colours you're using. like there seems to be more yellow around her neck and her elbow has hints of red that you aren't capturing.

Please excuse my line quality, but this is a bit of a red line for you. For the most part the upper half of the face is decently accurate but you sort of lost it around the jaw.
It seems like you made his jaw and neck area muuuch wider than it is in real life.
This resulted in Idubbbz looking more like cobalt cobra than the skinny fuck he is. Notice how his cheeks are quite concave in the reference and his whole head makes almost a triangle shape from that angle.
I think what would help you most is continuing to draw from reference, but practice thinking of your subject as shapes to be copied, and don't try to stray from what the reference tells you, even if it looks weird at first.

its definitely proportionate from a stylized point of view. The nose is cute and the eyes and mouth are in place. You could try drawing larger, so you have more space to work on the face.

also, the reflection on the bottom of the shirt is the same color of the shirt. It would look better if it had a bit of the color of the shorts, since the light is hitting the shorts, which is reflecting the teal color, which is then hitting the shirt, so it becomes illuminated with teal on the bottom
