Honestly, looking at it from the school's perspective, depending on how it actually went down (Is there any kind of documentation on why?), I could see them rejecting him because, I mean, he doesn't need art school. He could've just started BEING an artist and no one would've asked where he went to school.

Hitler wasn't actually denied because of lack of skill, but he didn't submit enough figure drawings compared to the huge amount of architecture works he sent in. The figures and heads looked rushed and lazy which is why he got denied, especially because the school's focus was the human figure.
