Please guys. I am from /pol/, and I wanted to create a USS Texas waifu, if you arent too busy. I would like to make her in the style of Arpeggio of blue steel, with this as her description.
Texas would be shorter, smaller breasts, and something approaching a US Navy uniform, so like the dress whites. I also would want to maybe play around with a sharktooth smile, maybe a snaggle tooth. Not 100% on that yet however. She is about 45 years old pphysically, but as the story progresses, she would reach a maximum young age of 25. I would not like a Iowa recolor, as she is not Iowa. Can you make it in this sort of pose, however?

Look at my pic and see how long and big the gondola is compared to them.

Yours can be saved in two ways. One requires quite a bit of paintover by lassoing her and scaling her down, but they you lose the focus on her which I presume you want. Or the easier would be to just change the boat. Bring the curve of the gondola bow closer to the far left of the canvas or have a good chunk of that bit outside the canvas.

I also forgot to mention she looks as if she's kneeling since her knees or close enough to the ground level of the gondola. So move her up, adjust your canvas and now that I think about it, she has to be set back like I said in the more difficult option. Because if you notice they stand and row in the back end of the gondola.

It's a lot of work but I definitely believe it can be finished and look good. Just gotta adjust a number of things which is natural to be honest.

If you're keeping your guy there, don't. He's way too small, way in the corner, nothing brings attention to him even if you put a spotlight on him. Your values are pretty dark in the center of the pic. Maybe do something generic and put some foreground element like the guy standing on something. Perhaps big enough so you can break the shape of that long part of the bridge or wall, whatever that is. Shape-wise it looks boring because it's one solid piece. Whether or not you choose to put the guy in the foreground to break it is up to you. Just do something with both the shape design and the dude.

Close one eye.
Look at a table.
Try to see the top side and the under side at the same time.
Pro tip: You can't.

Where is your horizon line? Then put one in.
Good! Now remember these simple rules:
1. You can't see both the top and the bottom surface of a table at the same time.
2. If the table is below the horizon line, you see the top surface.
3. If the table is above the horizon line, you see bottom surface.

Now apply this to the planes and surfaces of your pic.

Been dicking around and trying to draw an orc warlock, I'm having some issues drawing a pose for her though. I want to give her a sort of hunched-over old crone feel, but it's coming out a bit sloppy.

I feel like the rough skeleton looks good, but when I try to refine the sketch her line of action gets lost. In the end I guess her robes will obscure her anatomy, but I feel like I should get how her body is posed down first before moving onto the clothing.

Any suggestions? the third body is my latest attempt, but it just looks really stiff and bloby to me.

It's not that bad. I'd say the back of the horse looks ok but the front is messed up. The front legs are too small and there's no real shoulder or form there, it just goes from leg straight into the neck.

Find a ref of a horse that shows the front/shoulder/neck area. Also you're running out of space on the left of the canvas, that might have influenced you into making the front legs too small.

to answer your question in >>2602653
You seem not to understand
>Ever heard about perspective, loomis or the beg thread?
What it means is that you should construct properly your drawing. You put VPs, you build the scene as 3D objects in space. You have no idea how to fix the front leg because you didn't do this work. Now your drawing is far from horrible, it's better that a looot of people posting here. However by drawing without proper fundamentals you're setting yourself to not progress in any meaningful way even if you put the time.
Same thing with the cross-hatching; it's pretty mediocre and you're not really thinking about it.

So to translate that, the best advice you can receive is to practice your fundamentals. Stop putting an insane in drawings that may look good to pleb and practice getting good: which means perspective, anatomy, etc.

And honestly I think people like >>2602762
are not honest at all, he's just here to hamper your progress. Your drawing is not stylized, and the mistakes come from the lack of fundamentals not style.

Anyway, I don't mean to me mean. Don't give up, on the contrary start learning properly and you'll see how much you can progress.

Second thing, I also hang out on the beg thread and it can be a pretty cool place. Some guys there are good and helpful.

>> No.2603838

>>2603799
Wow thanks, you weren't mean at all !
I understand your point and indeed I lack in fundamentals. This picture was actually a last minute request so i didn't have much time to prepare for it, thus running out of space in the canvas and making the several anatomical mistakes. I'm aware that i'm still learning, but since this image wasn't a part of my studies i thought i would be better to have advice more specific to the actual painting. That's why i thought this thread was a better place.
