How much sleep does everyone get? I feel like 6 hours isn't enough and my work lacks because I'm tired.

Aim for 8, realistically get 7-7½ on work days and 8-9 on weekends. If I go below 7 it seriously affects the next day. Some people can deal with 6 hours fine (Mostly late teens), most people stop being edgy about "sleep is for the weak!" much past that, I've found.

Im trying to go polyphasic. Uberman sleep schedule would allow me to split my time into 4 hour segments, which would be a nice way to structure my productive time while getting 5-6 more hours a day to do whatever I want.

Unless your life is structured into 4hr chunks it is hard to maintain the schedule consistently. Without consistency the schedule will only work for a few days, then you crash.

This can work if you supplement it with a strong self-hypnosis regimen. This will allow your limbic system to adjust better, and you'll be able to move the sleep phases around a little (+- 30 minutes).

Interestingly, from talking to people who have attempted polyphasic, they also found intense, vivid daydreaming to be much easier to achieve, thus boosting creativity.

Isn't the point of polyphasic sleep the reduction of how many hours of sleep you need per day? If you're still needing 6-7 you might as well sleep normally. And unless you can drop and rise almost instantly, the time it takes to do that several times a day probably outweighs the time you save on sleeping anyway.

I sleep and wake quickly. Having multiple sleep phases is more psychological than physical. I spend my 8 hrs at work doing bullshit, then I come home fresh from my nap with a full 8 hrs to myself. It feels like I am living 2 days in 1 day, and every other 'pseudo' day feels like a weekend.

Most of my peers are too tired after work, and only have 4-5 hrs for themselves, which prevents them from adopting more involved hobbies - just watching tv and eating out. With 8 full hours I can have a contiguous session drawing, building models, and working on fun projects.

I'll tell you one thing friend that when you get really serious about art and start putting yourself out there some shit that you shoved to the back of your mind will come up. There's a reason why so much of ic has mental health issues.

But to me that shit is a bonus to doing art: you have to face all your shitty insecurities and overcome them. Once you do that you'll start feeling pretty ace.

Sleep patterns are annoying because they are very individual and you can't do jack shit about it. I'm going to naturally wake up around 7-8, no matter how late I go to sleep. I can sleep twelve hours if I go to sleep at 8pm, I'll sleep 4 if I go to sleep at 3 am.
I think I need around 9 to be on point, but since that means going to sleep at 10pm and I never make it, I am running on chronic fatigue.

I actually have to hurt myself in the afternoon some days to not fall asleep at my desk job.
