yeah but the toothpick acts like a felt tip, and the coffee as a watercolor. It's not just a dip pen, it's a mix between a pen and a brush, and makes practicing with watercolors very easy (even on cheap printing paper).
I never went to art school and i know i'm not good, but look at this drawing, it took almost no effort and i was done with it in 5 minutes, maybe i am just easily impressed but i think this thing is actually good.

I don't even usually visit /ic/, I mostly lurk /k/ or /g/, but I was looking for a gondola thread and found this instead, so have the result of 15 minutes of bored fiddling trying to slightly clarify your onionbro. I don't really have artistic skills, I just mess with pictures. Sorry I lost some detail in the cloth below the belt, I couldn't figure out a way to recover it cleanly after using blurs early on to fix some noise issues.

I also just noticed I lost some contrast on the right side and on the sword handle. I dunno, hope you guys keep arting away. As an engineering student I'm continually blown away by what people draw in 15 minutes for their own amusement.

This makes me curious about dip pens. I have a cheap fountain pen and I like it quite a lot, if I wanted to get into dip pens does anyone have a recommendation for a nib holder / nib / ink?

Try a soda/beer can and some chopsticks instead, you can definitely get creative with the nib styles. Great if you're into calligraphy as well.
