Why does japan like to hire people who can't draw as character designers?

Example?

Yeah but I don't see how they "can't draw", it looks perfectly fine.

Maybe you should apply for a job at some japanese game dev or animation studio as Loomis redline director. I'm sure they'd hire someone as skilled as you on the spot, to teach all of their hack artists a thing or two how a real artist draws stuff.

this.

See the OP pic fuckface. I don't really follow anime anymore but ito noizi did the characters for shana and haruhi.

What? Are you retarded? You are the one who talks about anime and only seems to know "moeshit" artists.

Madoka character designer. Why don't they just get the animators or some random pixiv artist to design the characters? They'd be cheaper and will probably do a better job.

>>2508117
So why are you getting so defensive over these admittedly shitty anime drawings then?

Where am I defensive? I'm making fun of how dumb you are and I posted Akihiko Yoshida as example of a great japanese character designer. You are the one who is obsessing over some moeshit artist no one has ever heard about except weebs like you.

listen up, this shit sells. it's one again a story about something good that sells and something better that does not. stop being a bitch about it. you can see it in every part of art that is associated with business. why does sakimichan get mad bux while a kid at his mums basement creates heartbreaking shit that will be recognised after 50 years? i'm talking nonsense but you know there's some sense in what i just wrote.

bad character design, or rather mediocre character design sells in japan. that's all the studios care about most likely.

Okay I guess this is my real question: how the world did these shitty artists out of the sea of equally shitty to mediocre to good artists rise to fame?

>> No.2508192

>>2508184
the thing is, they're not shitty. and for some reason you can't bring yourself to admit that. they're good at exactly what they do. maybe even the best, but if it's what they do that you dislike, it's a whole different thing. a professional in badminton would suck in a tennis game. speaking strictly in theory now.

where i do agree with you is that they could make material that is much more interesting, bringing new shit to the table for us to gobble up, getting rid of happy ojous and soft core psychological porn, but that's where you have to dig a bit deeper i guess. good stuff is always bound to be made.

Their name sells because they had moderate to high success with prior works.

Even if their art isn't amazing manga artists fame isn't dictated entirely by their artwork, since they are writers also. Once you are famous your name will sell your artwork even if that is not 100% of the reason you became famous in the first place.

Besides, fame is often subjective since not every artist receives credit directly proportional to their artistic skill. There are a multitude of factors that influence this and it's not always fair no, but that's just the way things are.

1. Japanese are cheap motherfuckers.

This sentence actually can explain really a lot about Japan and especially about anime & manga. Anime looks like it looks like because when there was boom on it they were backward third-worlders who were just bombed to fuck and in that fuckpoor environment they couldn't animate with as much frames as disney, so they used still frames and other shit to simplify and obscure general low quality of it all.

And how are animators treated nowadays in Japan? Like lowest caste of society, they are meant to have large output and die out of exhaustion while working for a bowl of rice per day.

Same with what you are asking about OP - it all needs to be glossy and pander to otaku, it doesn't need to look good, it has to sell, your character designer is probably also background designer and mops floors after work is done before he returns to his 2x2 "flat" in the centre of Tokyo or other industrial chimney.

Btw, that's the fate of all artist not only in Japan. Let it be my final revelation, you'll die out of hunger.
