This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make stylized work in-between their studies. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil.

Submit your drawings, receive feedback or critique others! Share your knowledge and remember to thank those who've critiqued or red-lined your drawings. Most importantly, have fun!

Do I have to go through this sort of stage of shit art? Lifeless tryhard monotone etc? Or if I stick with the fundamentals long enough can I
just have work that is less complicated but more "correct" i.e. looks better?

I see so many pieces of work like this and I'd rather produce the right thing done badly before I get to the stage where I'm collouring/adding a background to a piece of shit.

In most cases, you have to trudge through shit to get good.
It's particularly bad if you're not suffering from the Dunning Kruger effect. Drawing shit when you know it's shit is an awful feeling. I know, because I did it for the better part of a decade, and even at that point, I wasn't even particularly good, just getting to a point of being half-decent.

Some of us are slow learners, and it's exacerbated by not sticking to the fundamentals, which I never did, and still don't do.

>> No.2454538

just like can you go from shit to good without making drawings that make you look like a tryhard nigger suffering from Dunning-Kruger.

The fuck is this dunning kruger meme. Art is a skill that dont last forever, many artists that drew good shit when they were young suddenly become shit scribblers when theyre old

>> No.2455189

>>2455057
art isn't something which last, or doesn't, it isn't a potion which you take and last a while

your learn to draw good or not, but you never unlearn to draw bad, which means you can always fluctuate on the dunning kruger ladder, and forgetting stuff helps you to go down

alzheimer, amnesia etc.= involution in mental skills (drawing, sculpting, cooking etc.)

Avoid doing random "shadows" hatching like the ones on the left arm, it doesn't works.

I talk from experience, be careful with hatching in general. Most people uses them as cheap details to hide other stuffs.

I was trying to give the arm more "roundness" if you get what I mean.

draw 8-10 hours a day for 3-5 years closely studying line work, rendering and anatomy while also doing master studies of every example you can possibly find of pic related. Also, when you do your studies repeat them until they are perfect copies and think deeply before you sleep and when you wake up in the morning, when you are shitting or eating or fucking about what it is that the artist has done to achieve the marks you are copying. gl.
