It's called "The Statue Seller", by Antonio Mancini.

>"A few paintings are otherworldly - I'm thinking particularly of The Statue Seller, a nude boy, recumbent on a patterned textile, holding a small sculpture. One hardly knows what to make of this bizarre genre nude - or is the painting supposed to be symbolic or metaphorical?"

I don't know why people love this guy so much. sure technically it's impressive, but I can't stand this unpersonal classicism style. always the same feet, the same eyes, stiff composition, same everything.
it's all segments, formulas, no spontaneity

here in comparison we have Velazquez. look at the facial expression. this feels alive.

I agree that most of the time Bouguereau paintings are expression less, but it's still beautiful as f*ck.
And that painting you posted, freaking beautiful, the faces and the expression, f*ck me. I just find the skin tones very monotone (light, shadow, coloration), though.

Nine times out of ten I will pick Rubens over Goya, but for this particular image Goya knocked it out of the park and makes Rubens look like a total noob.
