Just saw this and wanted to make a thread out of it, because every now and then I find something that really gets me instantly motivated to draw more.

The manga Gantz has an entire arc portraying Buddhist entities as creatures, one of them is multilimbed like Shiva. Don't know if you read it, but it's a cool arc and really creepy.

Kinda off-topic, but that just reminded me of it. lol

Stålenhag at it again. Clock was a swedish fastfood franchise in the 80's that disappeared. It has certain nostalgic connotations for a lot of us who grew up back then. Just a little trivia for you non swedefags. Love the way he rendered the beige-grey plastic computers in that piece too. He's really a master at getting in that sense of familiarity

>> No.2262509

>>2262498

Ha, I haven't thought about him that way but that makes sense. I admire Rockwell's works for his technical and narrative abilities but as a swede who was born in the 80's it obviously doesn't invoke that powerful sense of nostalgia that older americans might experience. So they might feel the same way about Rockwell that I do about Stålenhag. Interesting thought. Definitely make me understand Rockwell's standing in the US better.

Nicola Samori, b. 1977. Italian. Oil paintings made in Baroque methodology. Common themes and allusions: decay, death, decadence. Common subjects: human figures, portraits.

His paintings fetch high prices in European markets, but don't receive as much press in the US, when compared to other European figurative painters who were also born in the 1970s, such as Adrian Ghenie (represented by Pace in New York City) and Jenny Saville (Gagosian).
