prob the most autistic exercise I agree

You go over your lines 8 times but the pen edges into the paper, giving you the impression you're staying in the boundaries but it's really just because of the crevice you made in the paper

now think about it, 8 times over, a whole page of those say you do 15 per page

8 x 15 = 120 lines

homework 3 pages 3 x 120 = ~360 not including arcs/waves so lets include that
8x10 lets say = 8 arcs and waves
80 x 3 = 240 + 360 = 600 lines
not including ovals and circles
lets just rough in the amount of circles you'll do
8 per line
10 times per page
80 x 3
360 +600
~900 lines

and he says to do this everyday

do you think this exercise would work with a drawing tablet?

>> No.2241743

>>2241734
you bet, it's all about the technique and skill, not so much the tool. I use to do something similar but not quite the same for warming up before drawing (both on paper and digitally).

Confident line > fuzzy lines

thanks, I'm excited to be frustrated with this exercise :)

Ugghhhh, annoying as shit. I hate holding the pen at a 90 degree angle

you clearly need the practice...also you might be going too slow.

It's all about building mileage. Don't forget to apply these exercises to more realistic settings, like drawing cubes, connecting lines, radiating lines, cylinders, ellipse structures, etc.

Yeah you're going to need that opposable thumb.

>> No.2241916

the 90 degrees is just to help you out lock your wrist and get a consistent line with 0.3 pens (and finer)
if you use 0.5 just hold it the way you usualy do, just make sure to lock your wrist and your fingers and youll be fine

Pen companies give him money to shill out excercises like these,so that way people waste the precious ink, having to buy more pens.
