Black people have a different skull shape. When you were learning to draw people, you probably started by drawing skulls. Draw a few negroid skulls and your portraits will come out more black looking. Achieving a likeness has more to do with skull shape than you think.

Most importantly, OP, while beauty may be a universal thing, WHAT is perceived as beautiful is extremely different among cultures and individuals. Very very few things are universal, the most important being symmetry.

Attractive is subjective, so this isn't necessarily true. Someone with black features, but not heavily exaggerated, I can find them attractive. If a black person with white features is attractive to you, then you think that. It's all up to what OP finds attractive.

I keep seeing this picture and similar ones like it posted when people bring up the attractiveness or ugliness of black people but I have seen black people with all three head shapes. Literally it's baffling how you can hardline categorize all black people looking the same way as though there are not all types of ethnic groups that look vastly different from one to the next.
Even when the caucasoid skull thing is posted, it seems like bullshit because I've seen white people with the first two headshapes and some that straight up have no chins and bulging foreheads.

In certain clinal zones (like ethiopia or egypt) darkish caucasoids (north africans) coexisted and still coexist with typical negroes, sometimes mating with them. Thus many people in east africa have dark skin (which is pretty much mandatory due to the sun) but caucasian or partly caucasian bones. I don't know about negroid people with light skin existing, but I probably just haven't seen them yet. and I guess they look quite remarkable and unusual. To this I'd like to add, Africa is a very diversely populated continent, tho they might look all alike to us at first glance, because they're all more or less black. But if you look deeper into it, you'll realize that, for instance, southern africans (think Nelson Mandela) look nothing alike the inhabitants of congo (in fact they have lighter skin and almond eyes). Plus there's plenty of dark skinned indians and chinese. So OP, whatever your idea of beautiful black people is, there's plenty of variation to pick from. That said, what you probably meant to ask was "how do I draw attractive characters of central african discent?" In this case, the usual general rules apply: emphasize neoteny and fertility in women, strength and vigor in men (of course it's just a general rule, you can and should mix it up). Flat noses can be cute (think asians) and the protruding teeth can be used to emphasize voluptuous and sexy lips in women. As always, give women wide and plump cheekbones and small, underdeveloped jaws. Ultimately, there is always going to be a tradeoff between appeal and characterization. You do realize that

1. This is a drawing, and therefore completely voids any point you're trying to make.

2. It's also physically impossible to have a skull like that without having a birth defect. Pic related: actual skulls from dead fucks. Aside from the obvious genetic variation, there is no crazy jaw lines or warped craniums.

3. That picture is from Paul Du Chaillu's "Explorations and Adventures in Equatorial Africa". For all the good he did, Chaillu also had skeletons in his closet. His mom was mulatto, and he practically took this secret to his grave. If it were ever revealed that Chaillu was a quarter black, he would have likely been completely discredited of his work, as at the time, blacks and apes were thought to have limited mental capacity. This has been proven false, but Chaillu had his reasons to both hide his past and distance himself from blacks as much as possible - even if that meant doing research that showed blacks as idiots.

My point was head shape has more to do with likeness than one might think. Drawing the features is pointless if the head is all wrong. Since artists tend to draw their own race, familiarizing one's self with the different skull shapes of the different races can help achieve a more Asian or more Black portrait.
