I mean if he genuinely likes doing it then good for him. If he's doing it just for the money then it's a shame that he's not pursuing something more in line with what he loves. Who are you to judge what someone likes to paint though? Is it a waste that Elvgren only painted cheesy pinups? I don't think so. You can tell he loved it and it shows through and raises the entire genre a couple notches. Is it a waste that Leyendecker painted sameface sexiness for sock ads? Is it a waste that Rockwell painted romanticized american life?

It is a waste if someone puts their skills towards something that they don't love. It is not a waste if someone puts their skills into what they like and that thing happens to not be what you like.
