Yup. I think it's also acceptable when building a portfolio to get work in the industry.

Most of the time it is pretty obvious. I think so long as you aren't intentionally misleading people by saying it's a painting then it's fine.

The whole term "gesture" encompasses a clusterfuck of different and often conflicting opinions, ideas, and definitions. There's no set definition of what a gesture is, how long it should take, what the goal of it is, how you should do it etc. It didn't even become a thing really until some posthumously interpreted things from Nicolaides all within the last century or so anyhow. There's not a long history of gesture drawing, at least not in line with how it is often taught today.

It will work with everything that have something you can use as axis(if it has not, attach it lol), as long as your turning ellipse stays in same perspective, it will turn vertexes it touches correctly and in correct direction. I believe this is how stuff works in 3d programs, just more complicated.
Robertson has much more info on this principle as well, check it out it's very helpful, in fact he uses it extensively to turn stuff like fins, wings, other planes in his drawings.

The perpetual tippy toe/invisible high heels look retarded. Calm your dick for a moment if you're trying to teach.

realistically as in "practical" or realistically as in "representing reality in art"

Question about references!
If I were to use a photograph as a reference for a piece, which is slightly distorted (but not exactly a photorealistic copy), could I use the piece to apply to art school? Would I have to face a shitstorm of copyright? Not looking to sell the piece.
