Just got an Intuos Pro and I already see tiny scratches on the surface. Same thing happened to my Bamboo Fun so i'm guessing it won't be long until the paper-like surface is totally gone (as well as 9000 nibs).

Does this happen to everyone and is there a way to avoid it? Why do they insist on putting a paper-like surface on tablets if this shit happens?

Just use the god damn paper

isn't it obvious? they want you to keep buying new nibs and tablet surfaces.

I have an Intuous 3 with a slick surface that I still use after 7 years just because I hate that shit so much. I drew on it so much that the surface got rough and scratchy, and then I drew on it so much that it got worn smooth again. I have defeated them FOREVER.

I simply attach a magazine page to the surface to avoid scratching the intuos and at the same time get that extra traditional touch which makes drawing easier, also I pick pages with reference to dissipate doubts more easily when I'm painting.

>nibs

when should they be replaced? wacoms sells them standard and with some flexible shit, which is more expensive, which ones are better for painting? does it even make a difference..?

How often do you replace nibs? I use each nib for like a year

It's normal. The idea is to not get deep scratches, which actually affect drawing.

So clean your tablet every day, removing tiny specs of dust and stuff.

Whichever one you like best, it's pretty much just for the resistance / paper-like texture feel. Just try them all

I use the flex nib.
Not for any particular reason, I just tried each one and liked it best, then haven't bothered to switch it back. Doesn't really seem to wear down, either.

i use an acetate sheet instead of the original one, and sometimes i put a few sheets of the cheapest paper there is, for the extra roughness. as for the nibs, nothing but wooden toothpicks

Agreed. 6 months in on a flex nib and it still looks about the same as before, doesn't do much on surface scratching either, which is nice.
