Thanks and yeah I'm 22 and have been working pro for a couple years now. Recently got a studio gig for a mobile games company and stopped freelance stuff. I don't think people laugh at me for merc_wip, I think they laugh at the meme. Or so I tell myself.

No it didn't really do anything positive, at least not in terms of jobs or connections. It made me worry a bit about my professional image since it started out as basically slander, but fortunately my name wasn't really attached to the meme, and the people here who know my name are not the types who will smear me and they know that in the origin of it I had someone impersonating me for a bit. I guess this same reason of not having my name attached to it is why I never got any positive benefits from it.

At this point I don't really care about it, but if I had to choose I guess I would choose to not erase it. It serves a purpose unlike most memes. Like you can post this in lieu of actual work now when someone says to post your work. I think criticism should be based on the validity of the comment, not on the work of whoever said it. So I hope it does some good in the community by navigating away from that argument of having to posting work.

Look in the archives at any given drawthread, you'll often see more comments on the best pieces in the thread rather than poor ones that actually need advice, and the resulting comment chain is usually full of people arguing how shit the good piece "actually" is. There's more than one reason people don't want to come here.

The real issue isn't so much the content here as much as how all it takes is one asshole to ruin your day or career and this place has too many assholes.
