Please, I'd advise to avoid this teaching at all costs. If you're getting into Furry art, learn how to draw humans, study their anatomy. Learn how to draw animals, and study their anatomy. Then, look at some of your favorite furry art, it'll become clear to you how they captured said proportions in order to make furry characters.

>>>/o/ther board here
I'm looking for a book that describes art. I'm not an artist of any kind, to be clear. In particular I'm looking for one that describes human anatomy, but not solely on an anatomy level, meaning describing only bones and muscles, but giving aesthetical features of body regions, like curvature of nose or deepth of cheeks. It's hard giving an example, as I can hardly formulate it in my own language, since I'm missing on vocabulary, and thus it's way harder to explain it in English. However, I'm trusting in 4chan hive mind.

So, does something like explained above even exist?

I'd need if for a database application I'm writing.

Thanx!

quoting one 5 star comment from link
>however, artists should be warned that the approach is analytical (anatomy is broken down into its elements) rather than illustrative (anatomy is presented as pictures of different poses). goldfinger (a sculptor) attempts to explain surface form structurally, from the inside out -- starting with individual bones, then joints, then all visible muscles, facial features (eye, mouth, nose, ear), fat pads, surface veins and arteries, skin folds and finally a gallery of "mass conceptions" of the head, hand and full figure as blocks, continuous planes, cylinders, ovoids and photographed models.
Well, probably I'm neither looking for an analytical nor an illustrative approach, but more like a description of features of a variety of surface forms regarding different regions like ear shape or forehead.

Talking about forehead for example: I'm interested in a way to express prototype forehead features in the first place and on a later approach I'd like to be able to go more into detail, if necessary. Variance in description language depends on the variety of input data. But I'm not even at the prototype stage. From a modeling perspective I'm thinking of describing each region itself like forehead and not a group of regions like face. But I dunno exactley since I've not tested anything yet, and I can't say if one approach is more reasonable than another.

To put it in other words, I'm interested in language that describes morphological variety on surface level regarding human anatomy.

Or think of it like generating your avatar in a video game like Mass Effect. It allows you specifying a lot of features using a slider to express eccentrity or its opposite. Allowing you a fine granularity. I on my behalf would like to give only descriptions that are far less granular.

The bouguereau one has a lot of text about his life. Not really that interesting from a painters perspective. Don't expect whole chapters on his methods. Not a lot of drawings. That was a nice little read, I really liked the comparison between animating a character and a drawing, though I'm a bit more interested in the technical aspect of how they handle animation. I know they tend to rely a bit more heavily on static keyframes and smears, but how do they go about their inbetween and creative animation choices? I remember watching one artist draw both his keyframes relatively well, then quickly guess how the inbetweens would look without any construction using the two keyframes as reference. Little things like that I'm more interested in and I didn't know if there was a translated book that covered it particularly well.

Working on looking for my External that I saved it on now. Also gotta find a place to upload a huge ass ZIP file, without it tracing back to me ideally.

Let's say you're doing a Landscape painting. The workbook will talk about the technique and how to go about painting and layering your oils. It'll have a pencil drawing you copy, and various stages of completion sometimes. I thought to myself "Oh cool, I'll get to watch him paint an entire painting".

Nope. The painting is half completed, except for one or two parts, and he just finishes it in Alla Prima. Generally he puts in a thin stain of color, then paints thickly over that with a small round bristle brush.

And instead of talking about his thought process, how paints layer, how to mix paint to get certain colors, he just complains about his life(not his wife, I misspoke, but I'm sure at some point he complained about her, too.). He talked about how he once got sick at a workshop, and sometimes he'll talk about how other people think he's in a bad mood all the time because of something. I only watched a few of his videos, I mainly just did work out of his workbooks.

Almost nothing in Scott Robertson's how to draw is done on the computer and the only thing you need a computer for is to watch the online videos. IMO it's one of the best perspective books for a traditional artist since it covers practical sketching techniques rather than taking an architectural drafting approach. I don't have how to render though.

Hi /ic/, I am the anon who cross-uploaded the torrent of Watts Workbooks to CGPeers. I also have 95% of the books on the old MEGA link that have been put down and I am going to upload them in the next few days. Compared to the current Book & Articles MEGA link that is up right now. There is about 2.5x more books (an estimation) from the old MEGA. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to dig through the Extra folder so the 95% estimate doesn't count for all the books+extra but solely for the books.

Anyway, I have been skimming through each of them one by one and noticed that some of them are comic books and some... documentaries that are not really related to drawing. There were also a lot of artbooks and concept art books laying around... Should I include these in the torrent? Or should I make a separate upload for them? I double checked and it seems like some of the art books can already be found on CGPeers while some others on other trackers... and some aren't anywhere.

I would like to hear your opinion on this.

>> No.2215250

>>2215243
If you can, remove all the stuff not pertinent to art, and upload everything including the art books and concept art books on one large file in Mediafire, since MEGA is compromised. I'm sure OP will make a new thread soon considering that it's nearly bump limit, so you should put up the link on the next thread.

Also, there were a book on 2D/3D and 2 origami books from the original collection... I think that they can be helpful if you want to learn to visualise contour lines... but honestly, I don't know. Should I include these or are they simply a waste of space?
