Let's be honest here /ic/. You don't "need" anatomy, structure, or any super important art principles at all anymore to be an animator.

With today's trends, so long as you can draw cutsy highscore-notebook level doodes, like cats and hearts, you too can go on to animate! Look at this cat, perfectly round spherical head. How about this girl's sublime :^U face, do you think the animator had intense knowledge of facial muscles or proportions when drawing her? I highly doubt it.

For animators atleast, why study real art or anatomy when the field no longer requires it. Joints don't even have to be solid anymore, you can just draw noodle arms and stick legs made of pure jelly underneath.

you try animating a weekly cartoon on a budget and show me what you come up with. With a publisher as big as frederator the art for this and all of their other properties are just fine. Just because you are to moronic and ignorant to how a real studio operates while trying to balance profits and ingenuity doesn't mean you get to generalize an entire industry just to sell your uneducated agenda. Go suck on a dick.

btw this is nothing new. Go look up hannah barbara and UPA if you want to see how far reaching the "new Trend" is op.

Go be edgy somewhere else.

While I hate the general noodly arm/bean face cartoon aesthetic. The example you posted shows the artist has quite a good grasp on anatomy and cloth. The colors are well balanced, and its not overly pastel/glittery/tumblry.
>just because you draw things in a different style doesn't mean you have higher artistic morals/merit
Painting/drawing a semi-realistic to realistic piece of artwork takes much longer than the time allotted for TV animation work. If you're looking for high quality animation, find a high-budget movie or indie film. Fantasia has some absolutely beautiful animation work.

her arms should not be coming out of where her breasts are at. It looks like she has a hunched back and her arm is some malignant tumor encroaching out of her lungs.

The shoulder is fine, just that the trapezius and collar bone wasn't moved with it. It's more obvious on the cartoon one.

You can move your shoulders in-wards, do you not know that?

KEK I'm a animation major and let me tell you one thing if you have no basic idea of gestures and anatomy it will take you forever to finish a scene.

I see my classmates try to do scenes and it takes them 30 mins to an hour just to do roughs on one scene while I'm taking just 10minutes to do roughs because it's literally nothing but gestures.

You may not need advanced anatomy and other fine arts related shit but you do need a basic understanding of gestures, anatomy and perspective and being able to execute them consistently.

japanese studios cut corners as well, but in different ways. they animate on 3's instead of 2's, plus their character animation is often limited to things like mouth movement or blinks. there's also a bit of more in depth reasons but i genuinely doubt you'd understand them and would just deny it.

plus they work their artists to the bone

You know all the greatest cartoons were by guys who knew the principles and knew anatomy and structure. All the greatest comic book stories and novels today are by guys who read the classics and great books.

You need to know the greats if you want to be great.

Depends on the anime but most of the weekly anime are called "Will fix them in the BD! Probably!"
Go and a looks the most infamous cut curner studios like TOEI and DEEN for more research.
Also the 4th episode syndrome when the quality goes to shit by the 4th episode.
