Does krita really work well as a Photoshop alternative? Or am I just wasting my time with it?

>> No.2176260

Right now Krita is the best open source painting software available by far. It is a replacement for Corel Painter but not for Photoshop. Photoshop has a lot of plug ins and after effect load of crap that Krita doesn´t have.

So it is not a replacement for photoshop when we talk about editing. But if we talk about painting and artistic creation only, then I find Krita superior to both Painter and PS. What I do is to do illustration in Krita and do any necessary extra editing on Gimp.

I can´t wait for them to get this new animation tool available https://youtu.be/1J9s7dNuSe4

Anything can work if you spend enough time with it. I've seen really good drawings done in MSpaint, as long as you have access to a soft brush you're good.

Just get manga studio. It's basically sketchbook pro/photoshop in one.

nice dubtrips, and I think it means when your pen doesn't have a relative position.
As in it moves the cursor, but lifting the pen and putting it down somewhere else on the tablet doesn't move the cursor. Seems retarded that anyone would want that.

I´ve never heard of that sort of bullshit neither. It seems some faggot from Adobe, Corel, Microsoft, Apple and all those fuckers is trying to throw shit at open source products as usual.

Them corporate fags must be kinda worried that some people at Disney said that they used Krita in the production of Big Hero 6. Windows is already suffering a huge hit on his market from Android platforms and the like. Krita could be the end of Adobe and Corel´s flag ships as well.

The success of this software is just starting. Krita became as good as it is very recently around the second half of 2013. Since then I never touched Corel Painter again, and I always used Painter since version 8. To me Corel´s flag ship is dead.
Photoshop will go on but as an extremely specialized editing software. For years the average digital artists and designers felt the need to HAVE Photoshop, it has become a stablished tool, but that position of privilege is in danger now. There´s no way a super price inflated costly software can compete with a free alternative. Adobe will lose a ton of money, and we´ll hear less from PS because advertising ain´t cheap. High end production studios will still work with PS tho, same as today, but that bullshit shady side business from education centers forcing Adobe products on students will be over.

>>2177038
Well, for the average normal fag windows is gone already. Desktop pc´s are being left forgotten and a dusty on the corner. Everyone check their mails, face profiles, videos, twitters, instagrams, little silly games etc on their Android smartphones. I don´t like it either, I don´t use smartphones but everyone else does, and it´s becoming the norm. That´s reality and it´s happening.

Can't say anything about Painter, but it's still no where on Photoshop's level. And that's even excluding third party add-ons and such, which a lot of people rely on.
>There´s no way a super price inflated costly software can compete with a free alternative
It's actually become more affordable because of the Cloud bullshit assuming you aren't just using PS, which a lot of people are doing now, especially among graphic designers.
>Adobe will lose a ton of money
Yeah, if it was years ago and they were relying on selling the Photoshop product as an individual thing, which is obviously not the case any more.
>but that bullshit shady side business from education centers forcing Adobe products on students will be over.
>shady
lol wat

Also, Photoshop isn't just used by digital (2d) artists. And businesses (that make up the main consumer base) will still use it, like you've said. You're pretty much the equivalent of Linuxtards saying Linux will replace Windows by a significant margin because of so-and-so for years, which has obviously never been the case.

>> No.2177108

>>2177063
I´m just using me as one example of someone who used Painter exclusively for a decade, and I just leave it behind in favor of this new software. I think corel should care that alltime Painter fanboys like me are doing this. Hell yeah they should care about it.

>>2177074
M8, you´re saying all the same stuff that I just wrote...
About the education system cashing extra money from students with their shady deals with Adobe that´s a looong story already. What are you a 12YO who never heard of this before? Anyways thing ain´t getting any better: http://lifehacker.com/what-photoshops-move-to-the-cloud-actually-means-for-y-494225482

And I don´t hate Windows, as a matter of fact windows 7 is a very good product. But Linux is way faster ans stable, if Windows could be faster, cheaper and more stable than Linux then I would choose Windows, what can I say? Being stupid it is not a choice for me.

If we shared the same views, then you clearly wouldn't be thinking Krita would have shit on Photoshop. The only main consumer base Krita will be getting are those who cannot even afford Photoshop to begin with.
>shady deals
It's never been "shady" to begin with, just a little forced because Adobe pays the education centres for their products.
>And I don´t hate Windows
Do you not know what a comparison is, or are you just retarded? That wasn't an invitation to talk about which OS you preferred, it was merely a comparison.

Maya is still the most used 3D software and the industry standard, despite there being alternatives that are cheaper and even better in some cases. Like Maya, Photoshop won't be going anywhere.

Why do you assume business and industry = only top production studios and such?
>Implying only poorfags download pirated software.
People who use it for business work typically do not pirate their software.
Also, what does pirating even have to do with anything? If people are going to pirate, they would be pirating Photoshop instead of settling for less with fucking Krita, kek.
>What are you playing being echo in this thread?
Because clearly you're an idiot if you think Krita would even make a difference to Adobe or the consumer base. Otherwise, software like Maya would only be used by these high-end production studios you love to bring up, which isn't the case.

You will be surprised, i have seen studios with pirated windows even, especially if the business is small so they know that they will never even get investigated.

No, because I don't know the software well enough (read: at all) to know what WOULD be wrong.

From context, I'm assuming it's pirated, but how would I know that from the image?

Emphasis on the "typically" part. Learn what it means.

I've worked at Best Buy for years (computer service/technology bullshit), and I can easily confirm that the typical person does not know how to pirate their own software. The hard copies of Adobe products (until they were discontinued) and other expensive shit like Vegas Pro were still purchased by people.

People are fucking retarded when it comes to technology. Pirating things like Adobe products is a lot less common than you think, unless you live in glorious mother Russia or China or some shit.
