A lot of you draw characters for video games, or low level bullshit that is similar. (It actually is illustration btw, not art. Please ignore this thread if you are one of those people.)

What is the best gallery in the world:

Centre Pompidou
MoMA
Tate Modern

Why are you asking people you clearly think are below you what they think is the best?
And why are you compensating so hard?

You got it, sir. The best is the Prado.

OP here

you guys really doubt that some corporate project with elves, or some werewolf shit, that is literally 100% conceived to make a profit

should be respected and compared to Rothko, Yves Klein and hundreds of others?

That is sad as fuck if you give dwarf drawings that much value.....................................................

>Klein chose to show nothing whatsoever, called La spécialisation de la sensibilité à l’état matière première en sensibilité picturale stabilisée, Le Vide (The Specialization of Sensibility in the Raw Material State into Stabilized Pictorial Sensibility, The Void): he removed everything in the gallery space except a large cabinet, painted every surface white, and then staged an elaborate entrance procedure for the opening night; The gallery's window was painted blue, and a blue curtain was hung in the entrance lobby, accompanied by republican guards and blue cocktails. Thanks to an enormous publicity drive, 3000 people were forced to queue up, waiting to be let into an empty room.

I don't understand why you hate video games so much. I think you could find something you could appreciate if you tried.

there should be two boards, one for illustration, digital media, porn, blah blah blah, and one for "fine" arts such as painting, sculpture, etc.

/ic/ should be nothing like /lit/. Most of us on this board are aspiring artists. We create things and we try to get better at creating. /lit/ only consumes and talks about which books will make them look the smartest and most cultured without any actual interest in the craft of writing itself.

That said, I'd be perfectly fine with a containment board like >>2176625 suggests, where all the non-artists can endlessly circle-jerk about the depth of postmodern shit xy.

Representational fine art will always have a place on /ic/ though as it is and will always be deeply intertwined with commercial art.

This. Niggas around here need to stop compensating for their shit skill by attempting to look like they're above it all to begin with.

Did you mean to say that people who consider their work closer to illustration and not art should ignore this thread?

To me, arts most important aspect is the ability to cause change in the viewer. I feel nothing when confronted with many "great" artists, while "lower" artist, such as furfags, comic writers or some tumblr, can inspire and move me.

So to me, the later can be stronger art.

Also, much of modern art seems to follow a build up closer to a high fashion brand. What the viewer feels doesn't matter as much as if it is "a Pollock" or "a Warhol". So it's a brand product, not art.

Then again, maybe a well crafted Gucci bag or a pair of Louboutins could be considered art as well.

There is no "low" art or "high" art, it's just a bunch of pretentious bullshit some assholes push to feel superior while having a huge lack of skill.
