How come Sofles is considered to be the best Graffiti artist in the world?

There are plenty of other people equally as talented that don't have ironlak helping with PR who are barely even heard of.

I also think he stands out because so many graffiti writers are untalented.

Graffiti writers are the Manga Fan 'artists' or digital 'artists' of the serious art world imo.

He is not considered the best by anyone but idiots who know nothing about graffiti. But if you really want an answer, it's because he knows a lot of people, he uses social media, and people like his lady characters that he always paints. They appeal to a broad demographic.

No he's entirely right. Graffiti is fucking stupid. 99% of the "good" art you see on building walls is usually paid for by the owner. Tags are a fucking joke and are barely readable most of the time.

I've yet to be meet a graffiti artist who can do anything besides make a shitty looking tag. Don;t worry, once you're out of high school you'll start to mature in taste a little bit.

100% of the commissioned graffiti art you see on walls is made by someone who has painted hundreds of illegal pieces in the course of their lifetime. Those criminals make more money off their art than you ever will.

>Tags are a fucking joke and are barely readable most of the time.

Not if you're experienced with typography. I can read pretty much any tag you present me. That's a skill that you obviously haven't developed yet, so I don't see how your opinion matters in any of this.

>I've yet to be meet a graffiti artist who can do anything besides make a shitty looking tag.

That's because you're surrounded by untalented people like yourself. Talented graffiti artists won't bother talking to you. You also seem to ignore the fact that most graffiti artists use pseudonyms and like to stay anonymous, maybe that's why you never met any of them, don't you think so? Not that you meeting them or not proves anything at all.

>Don;t worry, once you're out of high school you'll start to mature in taste a little bit.

I never claimed that graffiti is a higher form of art than anything else. I love many kinds of art. It really says a lot about you that you can't appreciate multiple artforms at once without throwing a hissy fit.

Maybe once YOU cut the umbilical chord and start forming your own opinions, you can expand your horizons a little bit and become a true artist. With a more versatile skill set you might even get a job someday!

Think further, there is something called typography. Free-hand drawing of typography is very much a skill. It's a skill that requires perfection, moreso than anatomically correct figure drawing. If you practice that, you get a better understanding of letters and how to interpret them. Same thing with graffiti.

>hur you'll never meet people that are good because you're unskilled
Yep. Deal with it.

There's nothing wrong with the perspective on the blocks. Your whole argument is either "I wanted him to use one point perspective and he didn't. " or "some of the blocks are sloppy so it's totally shit." If anything the only issue with that one is where the fuck is the guys other arm/shoulder.

As usual, it's still better than anything you could make.

>Your whole argument is either "I wanted him to use one point perspective and he didn't

No, I want him to use a consistent eye level and a stationary point. If that's lacking, which it is, then there IS something wrong the the perspective you dumb fuck. It's not that hard to just use your own eye level so people passing by who have the misfortune to look at this garbage at least have the illusion that it's in 3d space.

>>2168254
>Those are painted tgat way on purpose, its a callback to the roots of graffiti.

Why make a callback to such embarassing roots where the "artists" didn't know the most basic fundamentals of perspective? That'd be like current day comic book artists drawing in Liefeld-anatomy on purpose.

Wait, you're telling me that for the past 10 years these faggots have been spraying terribly out of perspective blocks to pay homage to utterly untalented graffiti artists who didn't understand the fucking basics of perspective? Why? Artists don't repeat the same mistakes on purpose for 10 years to pay homage to earlier artists who didn't know any better. That's not how you improve and innovate your art form. Nope, noeclassicism is what I reference and study from most, the pic your commenting on isnt my cup of tea, but it is a throwback bboy style, the "character" having only 4 fingers is another staple of this specific style, the more you criticise it the more its clear you know nothing on the subject.

Heres an example by former graffiti artist Justin Coro Kaufman who helped start Massive Black.

So you seriously think that the artist doesn't know how to draw a square in perspective? Yes or no?

You don't think that maybe the artist wasn't paid enough for him to autistically render insignificant background details?

Also, good job picking the least ambitious piece in the whole thread to nitpick on. Good boy.

Now, a friendly reminder that Boogie SML has several sponsors and makes a living off of his art. He gets invited to events around the world just to paint, he has exhibitions and sells canvas paintings.
