Any of you guys out there have any artists you look at that have really good mech design? Maybe some tips and tidbits to making more believable mechs?

I understand using machines as reference materials and looking at least engines, excavation stuff, etc. I just have a hard time piecing all of those things together into a believable mech.

If any of you guys have any robot drawing shit feel free to share, I hardly see any on here.

P.s. picture is shitty mech drawing I'm playing with. Cliche human/robot interaction.

Jake is pretty good. He has a very distinct simplified style that works well.

Not too shabby. But not sure If the back part is some kind of bag or if that's shading. Gets kinda lost in translation.

Prog Wang's a pretty well-established upcoming mech artist too

given he literally only draws mechs (and occasionally little anime girls) so its not particularly surprising that he's good at them but I guess he's a good reference if you wanna study

agree he has an incredibly mature form/shape-language.

In order to be able to draw mech shit you have to know how it works.
You got to think like an engineer: does this part do anything, is this a useless doodad, is this sparkly bit essential to the machines function?
A mech will always look like shit if its not believable in its function.

Is that why all mechs ever look like shit?
