/ic/ I would like your opinion or advice on this matter, so i am about to graduate from a 2 year college, i will be receiving my associates in illustration. The problem is that the whole college was mediocre, still the were a few really useful classes that i would say that set me on the right path. what i would like advise on is what techniques can i learn on my own or what can i do get better on my own, i cannot afford a proper art school, so i need to become good on my own

I'm probably wrong but why is the background solid back if it's value practice? I thought values were heavily affected by how the values in the background transition?

Your drawing looks like an engraving. It has some depth but It's only 2.5 D. You'd do yourself a huge favor cracking open a Scott Robertson book and focusing very very heavily on Perspective. Either that or you can learn how to place a figure's feet on the ground properly in perspective and then try animating (but only then). Two ways to get gud fast.

make an inspiration folder where you save art you like the look of. also folders saving fashion you like, photos you like, buildings you like, etc. and consume all the art all the time, just go to a library or wikiart and explore

draw from these things, as well.

come to the drawthread in /pol/ 7pm merican time
To get better in art you need to keep on pushing yourself, replicating works from old masters and changing the angle, adding more people.
No 1 rule of Art is always consider yourself shit and the all fine art business is a nothing more but a bunch of shit talentless hacks creating a group that scribble lines on paper like a child

I will go to /pol/ to see whats going on,
and I agree with you, the fine art business its fucking shit, the school that i go has a yearly art contest that its sponsored by supposedly world renown artist and the winning pieces are always trash, this year was a collage, and like 2 years ago was a weird metallic thing filled with heads, its disappointing that crap art its being rewarded, i doubt that anything even remotely classically inspired would be candidate to win their dumb award
