Sup /ic/. Not sure if its the right place to ask but im sure there are some videogame industry artist.

How much should i charge for picrelated animation? It's done using Spine program or similar program that uses skeletal animation, which means it's cheaper than traditional animation.
But the actual price still is quite...i have no idea.
I drew 50 characters for a game and i will be animating them (idle animation, attack animation and death animation), so im in an extreme need of the answer.
Will be bumping this like crazy.

Is it someones personal project or a company?
How long did it take you?
Honestly this is the sort of shit you work out long before you do the work.

for a company.
i don't know. i can finish it in 1-2 hours.
Im not a beginner artist. Been working sinse 2008. But i never animated it in skeletal animation. However its not that hard but i have no idea how much does it cost.

If the rig is included you charge for that and then charge for every second of animation done for them. AAA games contract around 120$-800$ for every second of animation.

Graphic Artist's Guild Pricing and Ethic Guideline puts it between 200 and 2000. Modcap animation can run around 5000 per second. I've seen small independent companies pay as low 5$.

That price usually includes the technology, techinicians, equipment, and of course the actors.

Don't forget to include price of software in your pricing.

I would charge the same as for frame-by-frame animation. The client probably doesn't know it's easier, so if they try to talk you down to a lower price, it's not really at a loss.

the Client knows a lot...he's my friend and owner of company. Its him who introduced Spine animation program to me.
He probably will take most of prices i will say...but the fact is - i have absolutely no idea how much such animation costs.
40$ for attack animation? Or 100$? Or 200$?
Ugh...

Have you checked the TIG forums? I think you might find people better suited for the question there.

lol

Well, say it's $30/hr. Estimate how long it'll take you to animate each movement, and do the math. $30/hr is again on the high end, so if he goes a bit lower you're still good.

$30 for less than an hour of work is quite good.
