I have this friend who just practically shits themselves every time we sit down to art jam because they're concentrating so hard. And instead of doing a bunch of sketches they just produce a lot of "finished" pieces that they each try to polish to perfection. It drives me insane. Also their face while they're working looks like they're pissed off/passing a kidney stone and it totally kills the mood when we jam with other people.

They also kiss ass to alot of famous artists by instagramming / tagging their shit several times a week.

Do you guys have any artbro's that drive you up a wall?

Hate it when people do this shit. They don't realise that making a lot of sketches n thumbnails and then making more finished pieces based on the sketches and thumbnails is gonna make a much better product. If someone just tries first time 'finishing' a drawing/painting/piece the skeleton of it is gonna look much more shit than if you prepare

This is what happens when people do art for the sake of getting a job in the art industry. They try to create polished, professional pieces and make connections through networking, and it really doesn't get them anywhere. I think that if you just focus on doing the things that you think are going to help you advance, you have a much easier time improving.

I know people like this. But my artbro does quite the opposite. He works a lot and does a lot of quick sketches that look very wonky but never has the patiente to actually measure stuff and barely improves because he's not applying any theory.

>> No.2066105

>>2066098
This. I know way too many people who produce only quick sketches and think they could automatically produce something refined and accurate because of the quantity of their work. The worst is when they ask for critique or advice on their 30 second, all over the place gesture drawings.

These people always seem to have the mindset that they could bust out anything super awesome and refined whenever they want, despite never bringing anything close to completion. Cleanness and accuracy is a skill too.

You'd probably be sweeping floors after filing TPS reports and occasionally tracing something that someone else was too lazy to finish, you made the right choice.

For profit 'game studios' are a joke.

God damn I wish I had an art bro. I have no excuse really since I go to an art school. The only thing stopping me is my underdeveloped social skills and crippling anxiety.

This indicates conscious mental activity, which is usually a good sign when performing tasks like drawing practice.

Man I have this problem too
I feel as if I've got a pretty good grasp of the fundamentals in the things I'm drawing but they'll always get low votes because all I have are sketchy looking things that were done in an hour
I don't think I have the patience for doing super nice lineart or really rendered paintings

that's what i always do through all art jams i had in my life.

Reminds me of the description in "The New Drawing on The Right Side of The Brain," which describes how kids do this, but art teachers try to go all abstract and creative on them instead of teaching them what they want to know.

Annoying twats always love to say "don't be so stubborn" when it isn't them who want to achieve something.
