We kind of already tried it. I figure a handful of people will post something and the rest of the thread will be full of people heckling the ones who did post, people explaining why they can't post anything because either they need to protect their precious rep or because they don't need to prove anything to a bunch of 4chan dregs, and maybe a little bit of praise or critique.

In a way it is a shame because while I personally think a friendly contest would be a lot of fun, /ic/ has proven time and again that the majority of posters don't think fun has any place in art. Anything that remotely hints at asking them to compare themselves to others will only end in chaos. I wanted to make some bi-weekly threads where we do studies of the works of various artists but I don't expect it to go any better than what I described before, so I'll just do studies on my own I suppose.

I think entries should be sent to an email or submitted to a tumblr made for this or something. If they can't see shit until it's time to vote, they won't be as bad.

Why don't we just create a short list of things to draw, and the thread draws it as best the can? I think it was done earlier on, and I had great fun, but steam petered out.
