I don't know in the us. But in socialist europe where i'm from we don't have an artist status. So i have to have to declare myself as independent worker. You just declare everything you earned and then you'll have to give close to half of that away. I'm being a bit harsh here but it's true. Most people don't realize that an employee who earns 1500 cost the employer close to 3000 per month. So you just have to make up for that yourself. So when i ask 1000 euros for a painting, what i'm really asking is to have 650 euros.

What the fuck are you even talking about? The way Patreon works is like a subscription. You are subscribed to whatever artist and you are charged money once a month or twice a month or once a week or whatever payment option they have. There is no "missing payments", you are charged automatically until you unsub.

Also if you need some kind of hard proof to verify, then do your own fucking research. Contact artists with a successful patreon and ask your questions. It's kind of sickening just how many people like you refuse to do anything by themselves and feel like they are entitled to have their hand held through absolutely everything. Do you think /ic/ is your own fucking research team?

At face value some people are bringing in 5 figures a month for WIP videos. When something looks too good to be true, it usually is.

Also, you seem to be too fucking dumb to actually understand how Patreon works or what it is used for. It is not a distribution platform for tutorials, that's what Gumroad is used for. The vast majority of people pledging to artists are NOT artists themselves but rather fans of that artist's work who want to support him or her. They see those wips and video tutorials etc as a nice little extra. They don't pledge BECAUSE of those things.

Take any one of your drawings, add as much contrast, chromatic abberation, color dodge, filters etc as you want, still no one will like them.

People dont know what they really like about a drawing. You could say its color, tone, or even chromic aberration, but I belive its what you make the viewer feel. Make the viewer feel connected to your work, physically or emotionally. Having a nice flow to it will help as well.

What makes art appealing is what comes from the heart. I even liked the MS paint abstract guy in the draw threads because he presented something interesting each time, and his "style" worked with it.
Watch a livestream or something of an artist and just talk with them. It helps me out a lot to do that.
