So im that guy who drew that shitty weeb picture last thread, im starting from stratch trying to find a type of feminine eye to draw that look good and is some realistic (Over exaggeration complaints)
Anyways, How can i keep consistancy? Mostly what will happen is ill draw one ill like then fuck up the next multiple before it'll happen again.
How are eyes? Im not going pure realistic/mix of cartoony but still liked to know how to make eyes more feminine
Also, what are some tips for drawing female faces? I dont know how to draw the characteristics of them, expect for a front 90* perspective. tips?

I seem to have lost it.

Anyway.

Pic related. Draw it to the smallest of details and shape. Make it looks as close to it as you can.

Actually, no.

Make it look exactly as it looks like, down to the minute detail.

Learn to manipulate your brush's sizes, beyond the obvious Brush Size option.

You can manipulate the density and minimum size of your brush, which adds more options.

just use different pressures for now the darkest values are where there is the least amount of light, lightest are for the most.or try your hand at cross hatch like i did in the plates above. draw the basic forms (sphere, cubes, pyramids, etc) and shade them in different ways then move on to still life stuff that has a strong directional lighting.

i use staedtler brand. you should be fine with 2h, hb, 2b, and softer (B is soft H is hard). youll also need a sharpener, kneaded eraser, eraser pen. eventually my might want to get gum and plastic erasers, a brush for wiping eraser shavings without smearing, blending stumps, tortillons (or however the fuck you spell them), file etc. but the eraser and a few pencils will do for now.

Tesco’s Christmas 2014 TV ad is a pretty traditional affair, showing Christmas lights being switched on in homes and in Tesco stores. Just get her some nice pencils, coloring pencils, felt-tip pens and art paper in the beginning to get your point across.

If you really want to be a honey boo get her a cheap tablet if she doesn't have one and download these books.

https://thepiratebay.se/torrent/5287545/Art_Books_-_Complete_Collection%5BUpl04d_By_M3nno%5D

If she does have a tablet then just download the books onto a usb flash drive. You might want to trim the amount of books down a bit so she doesn't have too hard of a time deciding what to do first, too. To that end zone in on Edwards, Loomis, Vilppu, Hogarth and Hamm.

Some of the books in this torrent are a bit superfluous. For example the "Fantasy Art by Larry Elmore" file is just a .pdf with a bunch of nice black and white pictures by the titular artist and probably won't serve much of a purpose for her.

Click under Classes, basics are the top 8.
Some classes are popular enough you can download the lectures via torrent, however this defeats the purpose of not having a teacher.

The teachers are legit. When I took my perspective class, the only thing I knew was from the book Perspective Made Easy (which did cover quiet a bit). When you submit your work, teachers would redline the shit out of your assignment, giving you 10+ minutes worth of advice and exercises to practice and improve. Not only that, but they have live Q&As that has all the students gather up and ask away if they have any other issues.

Hate to sound like I'm selling ya' the class, but for $700 you get your money's worth.

About to go ahead into figure drawing, and I was given some books. Vilppu's Manual and Drawing from Life by Bridgeman.

Haven't read them just yet, but I've also downloaded some of Hampton's lecture to get more info on this subject.

With all these resources, is it bad to review them all as I continue my studies? This subject is brand new to me, and I'm wondering by viewing all these, will I have "conflicting ideas" on how figure drawing works? Or do I need to review all 3 things to get the basics of figure drawing?

Hey dude, I'm >>2006784. First, I appreciate the compliment, even though by my own standards I still am way short of where I want to be.

Everyone is different, but for me, I've been drawing on and off for the last 3-4 years, and I started with Betty Edwards "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain". If you're a complete and utter neophyte, I highly recommend that book, as it will teach you to 'see' more rapidly that just drawing boxes. I only started getting serious about drawing in the last 1-2 years *i.e., doing it nearly every day), and my practice routine is still piddling compared to those with considerable skill. If you put in an hour every day, I'd say it would take you around 2-3 years to get where I'm at, just as a function of sheer mileage.

Basically, don't get discouraged. There will be days where you don't feel like drawing/painting at all, and that's fine. But you will have to decide whether you want to fight through that frustration/boredom/depression (which will expedite your learning) or succumb to it (not an awful thing, and something I am guilty of, but it has never been of benefit to skip a session). Art isn't like working out, there is no such thing as art fatigue, really. You can always stand to do more of something, and benefit in some way from that practice. But executing that is another issue entirely.

Best of luck anon, and I hope something of what I wrote will help you if you.

>> No.2008096

>>2008090
Yes, learning is very important for several reasons. But main reasons are:

You need to understand how form works, helping you construct your drawing from your own imagination/style.

Also, you'll need to understand the rules of drawing in order to break them. If you don't know what the boundaries are, how could you break them?

But there is such thing as too much studying. It is important to study, but don't forget to draw.

Mmmm, ah yes, those looks terrible. But you put effort into it, which goes a long way.

For one, the square itself already looks off. There's nothing guiding it. You'll soon understand what the issue is.

Check out what this anon said >>2008112

Do these books in order:
Drawing on Right Side of Brain > perspective made easy by ernest norling > Scott Robertson's Book How to Draw while reading Loomis' Successful Drawing

Eventually other things, but learn this shit first.
Also draw from life all the while (like actual boxes, water bottles, your mouse, etc). Drawing shapes in perspective will pay off, since once you get into figure drawing (ya know... DRAWING SOME FUCKIN NAKED ASS PEOPLE), you'll have a great time drawing them since it requires you to plug in shapes to create human form.

PPI means nothing for digital artist. The GPU/Software Scaler takes care of making the pixel density match your monitor regardless of the file's specified P/DPI.

Although, as a rule of thumb, its said that 72-98 PPI is a good setting for modern computers, as its a pretty standard set of numbers that closely match most modern monitors, so the Scaler has less work to do and can improve performance on potatoes.

Maybe you should quit stylizing for a while and try drawing heads and faces from reference so you'll get the form right. It looks like you did your animals that way and they turned out really well.

I don't know if I'm totally qualified to give advice; I'm just getting a flat feel from some of the human faces from your doodles.

I can see that you're putting wireframes on some of your sketches for the legs and body. You could try putting those on faces to make sure all the features are centered and where they should be. Right now it sort of looks like you're penciling the head in first and then filling it with facial features, when instead you should really have a good idea of the big picture before you start making concrete outlines.

I have a question /ic/. I tend to draw with friends most of the time, and most of them are much more advanced than me, but I still want to learn to get their level.

When they start drawing some picture I tend to mimic them and try to do what they do, every step of the way, just to familiarize myself. Is this a good way to learn? Or am I just going to start relying on someone else instead of myself?
