what'd you do to get to that level?

Today marks my 1 month "anniversary" of starting art, so even though it's only been a month I wanted to compile my journey thus far anyway. I work 6-10 hours a day so hopefully the newbie-gains improvement is visible. The first week I jumped straight into digital art but quickly realized I shouldn't try to cut corners. I stepped a few steps back and began studying fundamentals. That led me to pencil and charcoal, which has been my focus since then. Each picture in pic was done about 3-4 days apart.

I got a job after I exited army, that's what happened. I also had much more time to work on my art since I could literally only draw on weekends in the army.

It's kind of hard to judge how much time I took on some of them because of work; I barely get any amount of free time because of it; only about 2 hours worth of "free" time at home. Try hard enough really depends on what you draw and what you study. It is true that in just a couple of years you can go from drawing stickmen to being really damn good, but you need to practice a lot (not only a couple of hours during the weekend and one every day, but more than that) and have some guidance and critics, which /ic/ can give I guess. What's really important is also to get out of your comfort zone and draw those things you suck at until they aren't an obstacle anymore.
I want everyone who plans to start drawing to know that, regardless of their age, background and knowledge they can become great. But to do so, they will have to be humble and prepared to work hard. Everything related to drawing is a beautiful hobby and can be a beautiful career, but it requires real commitment.
Drawing helped me get through hard times in life and I find it ironic how I started because I wanted to draw porn of my favorite characters.

Yup. It happened to me as well. Its really rare for someone to already be seriously practicing and doing decent art at 15/16
But its not that those people have difficulty to become better. Some of them where just kids with kids mentality.

i have three years to draw while finishing non-art uni (22yo now), waiting for my tablet to arrive atm and im ready for commitment (its not an overnight decision) i have been doing graphic design as a hobby for years, so i have solid knowledge about composition and colors, but when it comes to drawing, im pretty much at the stick-figure level.

so what should be the correct path to follow? ANY legit advice is welcome. want to meke the most out of the 3 years.
