Most of the stuff we're telling beginners to do is to work on anatomy, anatomy, anatomy

But I feel like we're really neglecting on settings. How to draw landscapes, how to draw buildings, how to draw interiors, where can I get my hands on the best resource for this kinda stuff?

>learning proper composition and positioning

wow. thanks for your incredibly useful advice, you sure are super duper helpful! You must be an art teacher in real life or something!

no prob. I'm glad you like it! I'm not an art teacher, just an artist that realized that without knowing the basics, it doesn't matter how many "how to draw X" videos I watched, It would come out as symbols with no depth and interest.

seriously, check yourself retard. where do you honestly think your going without knowledge on composition and positioning, and further more, perspective? what did you want, me to send you a youtube link on how to draw a room? enjoy wasting your time

Your advice really was useless, though. You could have at least provided the wikipedia link for the Rule of Thirds, or something. Just because composition and positioning are abstract concepts doesn't mean you cannot teach about them in very specific ways.

http://www.apogeephoto.com/may2014/how-to-use-the-golden-ratio-to-improve-your-photography.shtml

http://www.ctrlpaint.com/library/ (there's a whole section on composition here, and another on perspective)

Don't be a dickhead.

Isn't there a Loomis or Villipu equivalent for landscapes/world drawing?

>> No.1924635

No, its all perspective and forms. Study mountains and trees if you want to draw convincing mountains and trees, just like you do with the human figure.

>> No.1924636

>>1924635
what about buildings and interiors? Those have strict rules like the human body does.

It might be worth your time to take an architecture class then.

I think with reference studies and enough perspective knowledge you could at least bullshit the drawing of interiors and buildings to be believable. As for values and colours, I'm pretty lost for what to study beyond colour theory and references.

Or just look at Scott Robertson's How To Draw. How has this now been mentioned yet?
Scott Robertson, Erik Olson, Marshall Vandruff, and Gary Meyers are all perspective gods so take a look at those guys.

Scot Robb dosent get into detail about how buildings work, just cars. I own that book.

Yea, its a good book if you know how to use it. The book is mostly techniques on contruction, perspective is given its feature but its not the primary focus.
