since when perspective is a big factor in character design, there is almost no corelation between those two.

really "basic" and minimum understanding (wich most brains are capable of doing) of perspective is enough for characters.

You're really underestimating the importance of perspective of figures, as well as how it could to help enhance your character design.

Some inexperienced artist's figures looks as if they're floaty or ungrounded although it wasnt their intention at all, weapons look like they're on an entirely different perspective, armors and layers are incorrectly wrapped around the figure, etc. This weakens the entire design.
Basic and minimum just wont cut it, it has to be more than that.

Designing refers to the ideas and themes, perspective is only used in the execution.

Do you have any sources for perspective with figures in mind? I just can't do the box grid stuff. My brain is terrible with that shit since I have no interest in overly technical aspects, straight lines, all that shit. Am I doomed to ever learn perspective? Like every perspective tutorial I see is always about the grids and boxes, but they never describe how to configure a character on a perspective grid. I just can't go from box to figure for some reason, and I know it shouldn't be this hard.

Just sketch the character as you feel right, focusing on the gesture, then, fix the mistakes by the grid.

I do this by making a perspective grid on a layer, and turning it on and off when digital.
