I think my eyes just got better at seeing values and color. I did alot of watercolor paintings in 2013-2014 (like 50 or so a2 format) and I also sketch ALOT (I fill a skechbook within a month or two and I already have boxes full of them) its really good if you have a stress free medium since I usually never post my traditional stuff I have like a haven where whatever I do is right.

Also master studies are like practise on steroids! Its insane how much you learn when you really try to paint like them and I dont mean just mindlessly copy the image. but to really zoom in and look at the brushwork.

So yeah I think its just me working smarter.

Improvement is a weird word because they are different paintings but there is definately a better technique to how i handled the textures on the table and floor, and general approach to painting the leaves and chandelier.

That's almost exactly what I did. Lots of experimenting and I'd pretty much just get a picture in my head and try and execute it as best I could. I'd get references and basically study as I was doing the pieces. I'm finally realizing the importance of fundamentals and after I'm done with school I plan on going on a studying binge and just trying to be able to get the figure down and be able to do crazy stuff from imagination.

Here's something sort of in between. The summer of 2013 was one of the biggest skill jumps I've ever had, I drew a shit ton though. I have yet to be as productive as then. I think what helped a lot was doodling a ton in my gen-ed classes.

hope that helps. I still stress about getting good, but I've realized that as long as you're drawing at least every day and consuming art, you're gonna get better no matter what. That's been a sort of catharsis for me. I've almost burnt myself out stressing about getting to a certain standard by a certain time and feeling like I need to be drawing 8 hours a day, but it's just not worth it.

A couple years ago is when I noticed it the most, but there would be periods where I got better in between drawings just from looking at good art, and being super observant.

Plus if you were doing that traditionally you'd have a crap ton of lines with gesture, then you'd go over it to add the details (maybe with a different color pencil) and that's more lines. If you decide to do a final clean image based on that image you'd slowly see that there's a little information missing from it due to all the lines...

Breakfast, lunch, bathroom breaks, snacks, dinner, travel time, lost time, study time, theory and learning time, then you have doing time. It all depends what you do with your time. You can spend 2-3 hours very efficiently if you're smart enough. You can likewise spend 14 hours a day and forget all of it because of all the grey noise and over stimulation of the brain. It's really interesting to watch your progress in this one, I can almost read the different discoveries you made every year, which is awesome.

2012, you learned a lot about color and started learning about describing volume. 2013 your anatomy takes a jump and you become more confident in the human form. 2014 you become much more refined and your work starts taking on more polish.

I'm excited for your 2015.

You’re improving, but I think you could be improving faster. The newest stuff still has really awkward anatomy, and your brushstrokes are choppy. The zeppelin and the spider web chick are probably my favorites.
A few crits for the most recent: the archer girl has a very “fly-swatted” pose, it’s extremely awkward. You seem to be having problems thinking about the figures in 3-dimensional space. On the piece below, the angel’s far leg disappears, the hand is tiny, torso oddly shaped (especially where it meets lower body), wings are inaccurate, and the creature lacks any real anatomy, though maybe that’s intentional. Keep working on backgrounds.

I'm sad that I can't participate in this thread because I've been learning to draw since I was like 16, but I've always been the kind of person to throw old things away, so of course I threw out my old work.
