The Dunning Kruger Effect: the more you know, the more humble you are.

the less you know, the more you think you know.

its like most of you guys, talking and criticizing artworks like you are the smartest person in the world. Im sure you dont even have a portfolio.

at the end of the day, the winners are those who talk the least and work the most.

its kinda like those idiots in Ferguson too, asking for racial justice by burning cars, looting, breaking windows, fighting, etc. which in turn fulfill that negative racial stereotype about themselves.

you are one of those people on /ic, that's why you wrote that :)
You hate them for that, just as you hate yourself for same reason.
And by pointing to others, you make youself feel better.

I think there should be other biases noted about /ic/.

(pulled from wikipedia)

1. Fundamental attribution error: the tendency to place an undue emphasis on internal characteristics to explain someone else's behavior in a given situation, rather than considering external factors.

Basically you make up shit about someone to explain their behavior.

2. Illusion of asymmetric insight: a cognitive bias whereby people perceive their knowledge of others to surpass other people's knowledge of themselves.

Basically you think you know what's best for others and they don't know shit.

3.Naive realism: the belief that we see reality as it really is; that the facts are plain for all to see; that rational people will agree with us; and that those who don't are either uninformed, lazy, irrational, or biased.

Basically you think that anyone who disagrees with you is shit

4. Shared information bias: the tendency for group members to spend more time and energy discussing information that all members are already familiar with, and less time and energy discussing information that only some members are aware of

Basically you only talk about the same shit everybody else already knows and ignore others who know some different shit

/ic/ 100% shit talking

yeah number one seems to be a favourite on here. can't even count the amount of times i've been told

'the fact that you think XX proves that you know nothing about art'

'i can tell by the way you type that your art is complete shit'

'i can tell by the brushes you use that you are just trying to fool and deceive people'

'i know by the generic advice you give that you a re a complete shit noob who probably hasn't drawn for longer than a week'

it's fucking annoying because the only way to make people that dumb realize how dumb their post is, is by replying in a similar manner making the same dumbass assumptions plus tons of sarcasm in hopes that they realize their stupidity. they usually don't.

You mean like how you're doing now?

Some people here are humble and just want to help, in fact most critiques I give are to those which I've made the same mistake in the past. However I know you don't believe in the absolutes you speak in.

There are a lot of people here who do talk out of their ass, but we're all here for one reason and that is to git gud. This guy and you are pointing out the obvious, we know the problem now need solutions and the best solution is to lead by example.

We do have a problem with critique on this board and the main problem is that people are too vague with critiques. For example Telling someone to "study anatomy" isn't going to help them with the piece they want to fix. Telling them what's wrong specifically and then giving a bit of resources will help them with their problem, you can help them slowly build their process. the more they fix, the more they'll be studying anatomy. You HAVE to give them a starting point, I can't stress that enough.

We also have to remember that this is art, there are no right or wrong answers, there's a million different paths you can go down to get to the same place as others as well as a million paths that can lead to dead ends.

See I appreciate the critique but this is exactly what I was talking about being too vague.

Tell me what issues I had in my post and we'll address it, simple as that.

I don't claim to know it all, I'm as retarded as the rest, I just gave a plan of action opposed to just bitching about how bad things are.

>> No.1902238

>>1902231
To honest I didn't read past that line.

You can't blame me for that though. You open with complaining about others complaining and then bitch on them. Not a good place to start if you want to make a positive change. It's not a good idea to start with insulting if you're looking to help people.

So my critique to you is to organize your thoughts a little better if you want people to read your posts all the way through.

Sure that's an honest critique, I do tend to ramble a lot, in fact I changed that comment up quite a bit.

and the tiny box you get when pressing reply really doesn't help. I'll work on my comment composition next time.
