There's no reason to get defensive. It seems as if you're assuming that there are only a few ways to learn proportions and that it's kid of like a set of dichotomies since you brought up LOOMIS but it really isn't. Regardless of who or how you learn it it's just the ideal figure, not the be all and end all way to draw the figure. If you learn to draw the ideal then you'll be able to successfully abstract, stylize and better draw to plan rather than just use "style" as a crutch and an excuse.

Well, same here. But people come here to draw better and I get to learn some good stuffs here. For example, I learned to draw human figures with much more simpler 3D shapes here and I think it was really helpful.
Don't focus too much on critiques, just learn each little techniques and details from others one by one and have fun with it.
