A tips on how to improve the presentation of my work?
My general feeling is that people find my work boring.

I like to create alien female characters.

your values and colors are shitty, do master studies.

And read sticky.

I like the designs, OP. Biggest problem IMO is the garish colors. The thick black lines used everywhere also give a very amateurish look. Also pillow shading.

tnx
yes , i would like to learn how to select better colors and values.
Problem is the colors on my cintiq are very dark.

While on other media it comes out very bright.
Is there a good way to compensate for the darker values of the cintiq tablet?

Not OP, but what is pillow shading?

OP here, i just looked it up, and its basically shading without choosing a direction where the light comes from.
Which i indeed do, i need to decide a virtual light source when coloring.

OP here, found the problem.
I went into the nvidia control panel, and upped the color vibrance of the cintiq, now the shadings look bad in my art (too subtle), like they do on other media,s.

Hopefull this will allow me to shade better, so itl look less bright and hard on lcd monitors.

not exactly. it's where you shade as if each little form has it's own little spot light.

here's a little demo. you can see how much more '3d' the same volume is in under a unified light source, even if that lighting is rendered just as simply.

tnx, understood.
Il try that to make my next design less flat.
Hopefully colors will also look less bright and hard now i changed the vibrance of my cintiq.
