Unless you live in singapore and have no other option then I probably wouldn't go. And if you do go, I would wait until you are best in the class before attending. He famously ignores the bad students and puts all his time and energy into the good ones.

i have until june to max my skills , one of the things of his school i think is very important is that u get alot of exposure . i have a friend who's attending right now , his is not close to being at the top of the class but he tells me he is having a very good experience … this is the problem , i get so many mixed opinions :S

>> No.1840055

>>1840048
Well there have been many students to anonymously come out and say a lot of bad things about the school. As you say though, many feel it is their only chance at exposure and "making it" in the industry, so apparently there are a lot of things people turn a blind eye to.

That being said, the students often become quite good and quick at linework and have decent perspective and construction skills by the end of it. They often are very generic artists, but have decent enough skills. Just be wary of the school, when it has had as much bad talk about it then it probably holds at least some degree of truth. Feng is known to be very manipulative and abuse his power (that whole Ben Mauro incident was proof of that, and brought many other people out of the woodwork saying bad things against Feng) . If you're a girl then I hear there is a good chance of him hitting on you.

ok ty for your advice , i might be wrong but i get the idea fang want people who will do their best and as the school website says in big letters , this is an intensive hardcore program , so i can see that students who don't apply get different treatment . but yes i know a teacher should be there to always support you . Anyway , I'm not choosing a place to study and to spend all my money to have a nice and friendly teacher , I'm aiming for a school with top of the line skilled professors that can teach me as much as my tiny 19 year old brain can absorb in 1 year , plus for what i have seen i would spend even more money on other courses due to the higher duration ( sucks when your country has very little to give u in this area)

>> No.1840065

>>1840063
Yeah I hear it is pretty intense. If you do end up going, then I wish you the best. Just wanted to warn you of some of the controversy around it.

Also, do you mind posting your work? Curious to see what you have going in to the program. Depending on your skill level you may want to wait a year or two and practice on your own before going so that you get the most possible out of it.

I'm working on getting a portfolio together before november , but even if i apply and get in now , the next open course only starts in june , and working a part time during the year i will have plenty of time just to dedicate to improving my skill set since i just finished school . Ty for your advise i appreciate it a lot and don't worry i have i my feet on the ground in relation to fzd's ambient .when i get my portfolio ready ill make a post for critics :)

plus i like how they teach you to work hard and under pressure like in real life , I'm investing all my money into a learning experience not a college one, I'm not going to school to make friends I'm going to become successful . I have a family full of people who worked hard in life and achieved great jobs such as good lawyers medics or business owners , I'm like the black sheep in my family that choose arts as a future and i want to show them that its possible to also be successful doing what u love l

FZD is not for 19YO noobs. You should check all the videos in his YT channel to make that decision. He himself said that his program is aimed to above the average artists who needs to polish their skills and get a foot into de industry. He also said that the average age of their students are around 25YO. So there you have already skilled guys reaching their 40's paying good money to have that chance to get noticed and connected. If you're a 19YO rookie you'll probably will end up having an unexpected experience. You'll hardly interact or even get to see this guy Feng.
Instead, I should apply to a good local and cheap art academy, wait to reach 23yo, and if you get REALLY good at that age, then you should take a chance on FZD.

>> No.1842069

Don't do it OP. Everyone out of there has work that looks the same (aka strictly-worse, derivative versions of what Feng does). From what I've seen, FZD seems really flawed at developing any sort of voice for your work. It's concept art, which is less allowing for style, but don't go for mediocrity for the sake of a gig. Work on yourself. Make yourself a commodity.

>> No.1842087

>>1842069
To be fair it is only a year long program. So either they won't have time to properly develop a style and come out as shit, or they can follow a very rigid approach and copy his style and come out as generic but having better skills than when they came in.

>> No.1842102

>>1842087
I tend to see those who go in and learn rigidly to stay rigid, unfortunately.

>> No.1842110

>>1842102
Eh, many people break free of that later on. Look at art history, and many of the best artists received very rigid training early in their career then abandoned it at some point and did their own thing, but without that rigidity earlier on could never have succeeded at their own stuff.

No, there was never a pic/trip/name with that particular post, unless it was a copypasta from a previous thread (which I doubt since this was all capped from the Feng drama thread after the Drawcrowd mass PM went out).

I have an e-freind who is currently at FZD. he got a $10,000 scholarship in highschool and I geuss he will be making $80k a year once he graduates.

After he graduated highschool he spent one year prepping for his leave. In that time he drew for 8 hours a day everyday. Don't get intimidated by this. It's certainly do-able if you are NEETING.

He's only 19 as well which is really impressive. I have no doubt he's top of his class ATM. His art is amazing. Can't wait to see what he has been brewing latley especially considering he has Been under professional training.

Anyways his advice to me was that art is all memory and that if you want to better at art that anyone else you have to draw more than anyone else

why do you want to feel bad? that doesn't help you be a better artist at all. shame doesn't make you a better artist. making yourself think you're inadequate doesn't make you a better artist. continuing your study does

I'm obsessed with age. I like looking at what level people are at what age. Leave me alone.

>> No.1842433

>>1842429
seriously, don't. there will always be somebody far better at you at a far younger age than you are, even if you're ridiculously talented yourself. it doesn't mean anything. it's never too late to start drawing; it's never too late to re-start drawing; it's never too late to improve and become a better artist. you shouldn't see art as a competition because you're going to fucking hate it and burnout like a match if you do

Yeah it's probably not a healthy mindset. I can't help it though. Despite people telling I have talent, despite being fairly skilled for my age, despite working as a freelancer, I still obsess over not being good enough and look at what other people did at my age or are doing now. I guess not many people younger than me are better, so if someone makes a big claim I am interested.
