Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises. Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up.

You are a beginner if it still says so in the sticky, so Absolute Beginner and Beginner.

Practice makes Perfect.

Hi beginner buddy. As you can see that hand drawing is mine and its pretty bad. And with that comes some pretty low motivation to continue...

However to keep up motivation, I usually take a break, or remind myself of my goal. Us humans are really shit at willpower and we have a really low reserve, what we're better at is distraction. So do an exercise or a few and take a break doing something more enjoyable and come back to drawing later. Besides we have a whole lifetime ahead of us so enjoy the drawing, you're not majoring in it anyways so focus more on that CS.

Both.
The sticky helps with fundamentals like construction, layout, form, control, conceptualizing and so on. Just don't mindlessly copy the tutorials. You gotta know what you're doing and why. Far too often I see people copying loomis' sketchings line for line. You gotta make your own faces using what you learn you know?
You can't use formulas as a crutch for ignorance. You gotta know why the artist does what he does.

I found this happening to me while beginning as well. You're drawing at a different perspective than the grawing, (looking slightly down) which is hurting you because you're either interpreting the position of face parts correctly for this perspective, or how you see it in the image which is wrong because you set up your perspective different to the image.
Just look at angles of eyebrows, distance between eyes, and chin width and angle. Also the shoulder's angle.
Not the worst but read some Loomis Drawing Head and Hands for some construction tips. Skip Fun with a Pencil

i don't like trying to copy it exactly but i feel you are right. i have been using loomis's approach to drawing heads but the thing i keep getting off which ends up distorting the whole picture (aside from making the side of the head circle too big) is the line that connects from the top of the ear to the eyebrows, than to make that curve follow around the head. as you can see it was slightly off from the original, i realized that late so instead of erasing it all i just went with it and attempted to compensate.

i'd call it a large improvement from my other drawings, at least i got the facial shape properly this time.

i'm also going to start practicing drawing hands because i might do better without being distorted by pretty faces.

see:>>1809418

>>1810868
as you can see it is not an exact copy. i realized i made the eyebrow line slightly angled down so i went with it and drew the whole face that way, attempted to compensate the rest of the picture to match, i think i did an OK job of that for someone who sucks terribly at faces.

I'm 20 now and have absolutely no creative skills. Just started following the sticky and my PnP art is like 10 year old tier, hell they're probably kids that draw a lot better than me. All these hands and brain can do is set-up and secure networks.

I fucking love comics and art in general but I've always sucked ass and my family pushed me out of my dream so I just went into the tech field. Is there any hope for me?

All the progression images I find are of people starting when they're in their teenage years, not 20-21. I don't wanna career out of it, I just wanna be able to draw what I think about.

you are making the veritcle pole wrong. think about it as a straight line that pierces through the ball. it IS NOT the guaranteed start and end points of the curve you make on the circle.

also you are getting there but near the edges of the sphere, remember it is a sphere, there are not sharp changes in angles. so 3rd row, you are not conceptualizing the circumference properly. also the point of intersection should always form a perpendicular cross. 2nd row far right is perfect.

Don't over think it. Scribble out what you think the answer would be ahead of time and draw using all the information you have on hand. Do it on paper and use a straight edge until you better internalize the principals if need be.

My point is emphasizing the importance of drawing from life without first seeking guidance from books is fucking retarded.

Just telling someone to go out and stare and draw shit to work out 'fundies' is absolute garbage.

You're asking someone to derive a whole bunch of technical knowledge themselves, when its much easier to just grab a book and study from that instead.

I'm not saying drawing from life is better or worse, or that you should only work from books, but your advice of:

>the quickest way to learn the fundies is to learn from life

is fucking retarded.
