What do you guys this about Happy Harry's HuHa Two How Tos?

>> No.1775803

I saw his episode on colour theory and he sounded like he's talking shit. I think he has good intuition and probably great aptitude considering the quality of his animations but very little understanding of art and how to communicate it.

>> No.1775867

Not very good. He obfuscates a lot of his process almost like he's trying to protect his sekret techniques and what he does put across is not really helpful at all.

Plus he's obsessed with Disney and muh frames when he'd be better off using more limited techniques.

So you're a studying animator and you went over the content of his tutorials adequately, and you didn't find them helpful?

Different strokes for different folks.
Someone not enjyoing something as much as someone else does, does not make either of them smart or stupid.

He's so obsessed with frames that he's consistently broke because he won't decrease the quality in his animations

Maybe he loves quality not quantity?

Harry Partridge's style is grotesque and obnoxious at best.

Fatass Skyrim fanboy.

I like Harry, he puts a lot of work into his stuff. He's one of the best independent animators I'm aware of. Maybe not as good as Adam Phillips (that's a big maybe, too) but he's still really dedicated to churning out near-tv quality animation (actually considering what can pass for tv quality animation these days he surpasses that easily http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrxlJN-3pEU)) fairly regularly.

>consistently broke

How broke are we saying? When you consider that he's doing what he wants with his life I'd say lack of material wealth isn't too big of a deal; he's sitting there with one hand firmly planted on his nuts doing what he loves while the rest of us non-NEETs are spending hours in some brutal drudgery. He may be working as hard or harder than any of us are at our 9-5, but he works as hard as he does because he's in love with what he can do. He's a total bro in my opinion even if I don't think he's "super hilarious" by any stretch of the imagination 100% of the time.

if you're actually interested in becoming a good animator, you don't do it with youtube tutorials.
Even with Richard Williams' amazing Lectures, you're expected to already be able to draw and to have already animated some stuff.
The drawing in OP image is fucking abysmal Dobson-tier shit and judging entirely on that one drawing alone I will go ahead and say he's shit and should not be teaching

Do you know why that drawing looks the way it does, the stick figure body? His tutorials are designed for people who don't even know how the animation process works, but are interested in creating. The stick figure is an expectation of what the viewer will be creating in their own animations. It's not some watch these videos and you'll become a master. It's a watch these videos and you'll know how to at least start creating.

Remove the FrankThomas.jpg and nothing really says bait. Just a retarded post that's typical on 4chan.

ok that's not as bad as I thought, but it's still the best version of a style I hate.
Very ugly design with stock gestures and expressions.

I am not baiting nor retarded
This weird mash-up of Seth Macfarlane and "cal arts" styles with these retarded mouths just does my head in.
Did he really do a tutorial on color?

He has more talent in the tip of his foreskin then you'll ever have.
