It's been this way for almost 3 years. I'm open for changes. Drop some suggestions and I'll change the OP for the next thread if it is good.

What do you feel is important to have in the OP? What is necessary, and what should be left out? I'm open for suggestions, for a better OP.

The placement of the features and shape of the head are a fair bit off, and the hair doesn't work. With hair try and drape it over the forms of the head as if it's fabric, pic related.

>>1748493
I second the other anon that it seems too dark, and I'd say the contrast is off. When underwater, light tends to soften values a bit, think of it like it's lighting up the water all around you, almost like mist or something. Unless you're deep down, in which case light struggles to reach that far. Basically check out some diving footage reference and figure out what depth you want for this.

Other than that it's looking good, the composition could be tweaked though. Making the shark bigger would make it more threatening, because right now he looks a little kawaii to me, and I'm not sure about having her covering him and taking up so much of the screen. Keep at it anon.

>>1748531
These are improving anon, I'd suggest doing some with 100% opacity/hard brushes though, these are very soft and blurry in places. You can always do it with hard shapes and then soften whatever edges you want, I do that most've the time since it gives more control over edge design.

I'm really trying to find a lineart style of my own. I really love using different colors for the lineart instead of black, like on the left. But at the same time I feel that's sort of missing something in the line variety? But then on the right, I tried changing the colors and it just really defeated the purpose of using line variety to not have the lines a good noticeable color. I'm really indecisive here so my next piece is going to be a lineless because I find those easier to pull off. I guess part of my insecurity from always having inking be a bitch has rubbed off on me and I feel like my lines will never be good enough. Sorry, this wasn't supposed to be a feels thread...

This is for a t-shirt illustration.

My biggest concern is whether or not young link should be there or not. On one hand, it sort of feels more 'complete', but without him, I feel like it's more centrally balanced (which is good for a shirt).

I'm going to skimp on technical details since you've got that stuff down pat.

The face looks too old for a girl her age. Too defined of features makes it look like an older woman. Primarily talking about the nasolabial folds.

Forehead looks a little too widely spaced. It almost works for the style, but just a smidge too wide.

other than that, I dunno man, looks pretty solid to me. I guess the definition of the features around the elbows is a little too lumpy if I had to use any word for it.

you have wayyyyyy too many lightsources. I mean, it's possible to pull off but It's going to be very very hard at your level.

You need to do a picture with each light source isolated. Figure out the values first then do some color studies.

I started a paint over but 5 minutes in it was just hard to tell what anything was from the original drawing.

In short: Do 4 value studies in grayscale for each individual light source. Then do a color study for each and lastly do value studies trying to mix them all.

Well it completely depends on a few things

1. What do you want to get better at?
-Narrow it down, faces, anatomy, atmospheres, landscape, composition etc.

2. Refer to the STICKY on this board, I know it looks like a massive blast of information but that's because it is. Find your specific interest and pursue it, you may be inspired to pick up other interests.

3. Time. Literally, nothing is over night, it takes a lot of practice and memory conditioning for muscle memory and imagination to be able to draw instinctively and confidently and correctly. You need to invest time, if you don't have the time then quit while you're ahead.

Gladiators rarely killed or fought to the death in the arena. Gladiators were entertainers, a slave master would put a lot of money and investment into his fighters, (training, living space, food, equipment). Doesn't make sense for them to just kill each other? Fights to the death did happen but those were heavily advertised and usually involved prisoners of war or convicts.

there's no consistency in the shape language & silhouette is clunky as fuck; if you have to tell me it's in the air, that's a bad sign. the biggest problem is there doesn't appear to be any actual design here.

Thanks for the critique,
I kinda get your points about the silhouette. I had an engine but you can't see it in my current drawing, which I know is a bad sign. But again, I don't really have time to spare, which is again my own fault.
Maybe give you the mood I'm kinda wishing to go for. It's supposed to be an old industrial asian kind of house where an old couple have been living for a while and they deliver some kind of gross fake orange juice which is stored in the tank. The teacher also asked for a kind of "cozy" mood, and that's why I went with the terrace and the potted plants.

Got any small suggestions maybe, nothing too big offc?

not that guy, but i'd put it like this: your noses don't look like noses, they look like a giant bulb in the middle of the face. you probably think of it that way as well, judging from the way you draw profile view.

other people think of a stylization that makes people remember a nose, in one way or another.

Work on your construction more. The nose should project out from the head more, the mouth and jaw are not working with the upper part of the face/head etc.

I would also say to be more careful with your shadows, there are lots of big value jumps within it. Try simplifying and flattening the shadow more, don't make the reflected light so strong.

Probably a good idea to grab some reference too and see where you can fix things.
